Hello all! Well we have a new addition to my small cub herd! An 1864! Not the prettiest girl, but not terrible either! Th grille and hood are in rough shape. And it’s the greasiest engine I’ve ever seen, but the oil looks and smells good! It came with all the manuals! I mean all! From the original sales brochure to engine service manual! And a the crue da cra,.... the original bill of sale! Apparently it originally had a snow blade. $5,679 for both. Here’s a couple pics

Congratulations....

Good find! They are a great tractor, power, size, options. One of the better late styled Cubs. I've got a brand new nose I'd sell if you're interested.

You will love it. A little TLC and it will be good as new. :beerchug:

Thanks guys! I was looking at it and the frame appears to be the same
As an 82 series. Will 82 series tins fit?

Nice 1864. Congrats!!:beerchug:

There are folks who have put 82 series tins on Cyclops series tractors. It's all about how the hood mates to the instrument panel. Things have to be done to make it work.

Here is one thread about it.

That's a really nice score.

It'll eat up lawn in no time with that deck!

Nice addition

Very nice!! You will love this tractor.. all of the best options combined on one tractor in the garden tractor size.. cream of the crop for the cyclops for sure!
Congrats!

Thanks guys! I was thinking it would mow pretty good and fast! I changed
The fuel filter today and looked at the jerry rigged headlight wiring. I don’t
Know what he did but there’s several wires spliced together. And the bulbs
Are another story! Looked like they were soldered on! Anyways the wiring
Needs cleaning up. Their hard an taped some bare. I still can’t get over how greasy
This engine is! I’m thinking too the oil filter was changed once! You can’t read
What’s on the masking tape on it. It came with a new hydro and fuel filter. Both
Oils look and smell good, not burnt. Gonna borrow my brothers trailer and take it
Too the car wash for a bath soon!

Yes it will!!:biggrin2::biggrin2:

I am currently trying to put together parts and time to build this same setup on an IH 782.. basically an 1864 but with the earlier sheet metal.. I think I have most of the parts.. just need the time now!:bash2::bash2:

bocephus1991 03-19-2018 12:52 AM

Thanks Jon! Yeah I need time too! Lol need the get the garden plowed
And do some service on my 1200 and 1288! Oil change and pull blade off
The 1288 (never pushed any snow again this winter) but the 1864 will
Get my 54” blade next fall! It has the 61lb wheel weights! Not a fan of the hydro lever
On it, but guess it works! Have to look at the deck. Doesn’t seem it raises
Very high?? Oh and wife doesn’t know it’s mine now! Lol was gonna be my
My dad’s, but my brother is leaving his zero turn for him to use. My brothers
New house the yard is 10’x 30’ so a zero turn is useless! Lol

Nice 1864, looks like a keeper, but get some cleaning done before you run it especially under the blower housing.
These decks are made to ride on the casters so you adjust those for the height of the cutting.

Looks good from here.:beerchug:

Rescue11 03-19-2018 08:31 PM

18y4's are pretty hard to beat. Just about the only bad thing about them is the brittle plastic, but otherwise they are very good machines!

Congrats on the recent acquisition :beerchug:

bocephus1991 03-24-2018 02:31 AM

Nothing to update. Been busy at work all week and tomorrow isn’t looking good for
Getting anything done either! Yeah I’m gonna wash it good before doing
Anything with it. Wish they would have made the grille, hood and sides out
If metal instead of cheap ass plastic! The rest of it’s built like a tank !
