982 with a 450 blower
 

Is the 954-0341 belt correct for the 982 with the 450 snowblower? Pic attached is the blower on the front of the tractor... :beerchug:

According to the Parts Manual, the correct belt for a 190-450 Snowblower on a 982 would be 954-0340.

Way to short! I put a 90” belt on that I had laying around and it fit. That’s why I’m thinking a 0341 belt is the right belt. :bigthink:

Then there is something abnormal about your situation.

The correct belt for a 450 blower on a super is a 954-0341 at 89" long. The 954-0340 belt is for non-super applications. That belt is 84" long.

Done some more research. The 190-450 snowblower needs Mounting Kit 190-448 to be mounted on a SGT (ie: 982, etc).

Within that kit, the 754-0341 -----> 954-0341 belt is used. Thus that would be the correct belt.

Here is another Cub Cadet error in their Parts Manuals or Web Site. There was NO reference to a different belt being used in SGT applications. I found this doing a "backward cross reference".

Thus, "sbauerz28" was correct and I was wrong.

The belt is part of the blower extension brackets sold to convert the blower to work on a super. It's part of the Cub 448 Snow Thrower lift kit accessory.

I'm thinking you need a cab on that 982 to blow snow.:biggrin2:

Wow! :bigeyes::blush: Didn't know I could stir up so much trouble!! :biggrin2: If you look at the pic I included you'll see the pulley with the "keeper" pins (keeps the belt on the pulley) is so out of place that the belt would have rubbed on the pins. I was also wrong when I got the belt looking at the Cub Cadet 450 snowblower booklet that I downloaded from here. Found out out just how wrong the book was! Oh and by the way... the the kit isn't really necessary (the super lift links). I installed them and the tractor wouldn't lift the blower off the ground even with the lift arm fully extended... So I had to shorten the lift links all the way up to what the length of the Garden tractor links were! The only thing I can really see useful is the carriage bracket extension. Anyway, I appreciate the help and confirmation! :beerchug:

Do you have your upper links in the lower holes as shown? I've seen people add the extensions to use the blower on a Super and forget to also lower the upper links.

Are we talking the pivot link? If so, then yes! The PO had the pivot links where they attach to the blower in the upper holes for some reason but I moved everything back as suggested in the mounting instructions...

So next problem with this setup... I put a sims cab on, the 982. The shoot crank isn’t long enough. Now what?!?!

This pulley looks to be a 4" pulley. They should both be 6" pulleys. If it is smaller than the other, that will cause belt issues. Need to be the same.

On the chute rod, you can do 2 things:
1.) Make a longer one
2.) Convert the chute control to electric.

Yes, it’s actually 5” but is supposed to be 6”. So far it hasn’t effected the belt.

So, there isn’t a kit or any suggestions for the length of my crank handle? Right now I’m thinking of cutting it off and welding about a 3” piece in so it will extend into the cab far enough. The support rod may get extended as well but I’m not to excited about trying to extend the hollow pipe!

There is no kit, as a Sims cab was additional equipment and not IH made.

You say the smaller pulley doesn't affect the belt, but it does, and the tensioner isn't as tight as it should be because the pulley is smaller, therefore the tensioner spring is taking up the slack, so less tension on the belt.

I had to make a different rod when I went to a cab on my 1811. I just took the whole assembly off, then removed the control rod at the u-joint. I made a new bracket to hold the lower half of the rod, and ran a new control rod into the cab. Instead of a channel for it to raise up and down in and leak air, I went through a single hole. The rod just slid in and out of the hole when raising and lowering, and would pivot at the u-joint.

The bracket I made can be removed and the original installed. Pretty easy to build. Hope you can see it. My cab is a Cozy Cab, and the lower clear areas is plexiglass. You can just make a plate that goes over the slot in your cab, and drill a hole in the plate. Way better than the slot in my opinion.

Hooking up lights I assume? Windshield wiper?

I never got around to putting lights on the cab. I have lights on the fenders when the cab isn't installed, so it's not like I have to really do anything other than bolt them to the cab and plug them in. Now that LED's are getting cheaper, I'll probably go that route. One of these days, I'd like to have enough running machines the cab can just stay on the 1811 all the time. Real PITA pulling it on and off. I haven't put in on in a couple years.

Yes, the PO had 6 lights on it plus the windshield wiper. Thankfully all the lights are LED otherwise the charging system/battery couldn't keep up! I may not hook all of them up as it seems to be overkill in my mind. What's even more of a challenge is making someone else's wiring "mess" work! :BangPC:

Put an Electric Chute Rotator on mine. Works well.
