1572 Front Hydro Case Mounts Broken

2 Attachment(s)
I started down the path of getting the wobble out of the driveshaft when I noticed both front Hydro mounts (to the frame) are busted. I have reached out to Xtreme Motorworks for their Rear Axle Reinforcement Brace kit. I hope they ship to Canada!

Unfortunately that happened to many of them. Hopefully the rear axle bolts through the frame are in good shape. Those brackets will make it feel like a whole new machine!:beerchug:

What mower deck are you runnng on your 1572? Is it the 60" Haban?

Yes, As Steve said... those brackets will stiffen the whole tractor and make it feel like a new machine!:beerchug::beerchug:

Thx to Steve and Jay for the verification. Looking forward to lets twist and vibration

I just had to do that to mine a couple days ago. Only one boss was fractured on each side, so it wasn't wobbling, but it did stiffen the rear end a bit. The Cub design is utterly lacking in torsional strength. Had to buy some 4 1/2" bolts to get the hitch back on there, but in the end I'm pleased. Now if there were something to stiffen the front end up...

If for some reason they don't, I'll help out.

If there are any Canadian members near the border who could help with shipping ( bring it across the border and reship ), that would save some serious money.

Use a big slingshot like the Mexicans.:biggrin2:

Jeff, thx for the information. Once I get the rear end solid again, we'll get back to making the driveshaft run true.

1572 Driveshaft is pretty much shot

I tore the driveshaft out of the 1572 Diesel yesterday and everything needs to be replaced. Both couplers that hold the ball bushings were really bad (one actually had a chunk out of it), the Disconnect Clutch looks like it exploded sometime in the past, and the driveshaft itself has deep burrs. I will post some pictures later today. I am going to a CV style driveline from a 1864 instead, and removing the Disconnect Clutch completely.

Those Diesels seem to be pretty hard on the driveline... sounds like you are doing it right!:beerchug: Keep us posted.. you probably already know but we like pictures!!:biggrin2::biggrin2:

Jay, here's some pics of the damaged 1572 Driveline. I am putting in a CV driveline from an 1864 along with Jeff in PA's couplers. I was hoping to keep the Disconnect Clutch as it gets pretty cold up here, but it was too worn to re-use. Fortunately the splines on the Hydro Pump shaft are OK. I've also ordered the Rear End Braces from Xtreme Motorworks.

THANKS FOR THE PICS!!:beerchug::beerchug:

WOW all that stuff was pretty beat up!:bash2::bash2: The CV driveline will serve you well.. Thankfully we have people like Jeff to make nice custom parts!:beer2::beer2:

If you don't already have one put the modern gear reduction starter on it and with good glow plugs if should start even in the coldest weather without the disconnect clutch:beerchug:

I’ve already put new glo-plugs. It has a newer starter on it, but I don’t know if it was OEM or another.ill try to read a model number for the starter.

Here is the info on the gear reduction starter upgrade.. There are more threads about it on here but this is the first one I found. It will spin the engine easier and faster.. draws less current than the factory style starter also.. That leaves more juice for the glow plugs.

http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showthread.php?t=1

I know there is a way to rewire the glow plugs so they get full voltage.. Apparently the way Cub Cadet wired them was marginal.. There are several threads on here about that also..

I haven't done either mod on my 1782 but it cranks easily and it rarely gets below freezing here. Plus all I do is mow with that tractor so it is pretty much parked in the winter months!:biggrin2::biggrin2:

Thx again Jay, much appreciated

Got the rear axle brackets from Aaron at Xtreme Today , found a used 1864 CV Driveshaft, and now to get the Couplers from Jeff. Coming together day by day.

Got the front and rear couplers from Jeff, picking up my 1864 CV driveline, replaced rear axle seals and the 'cork', replaced the Trunion Springs, buttoned back up. Here are 2 pics of the broken aluminium Hydro case front mounts.

Have to wait to next weekend for re-assembly with the Xtreme Motosports rear axle brackets. Getting closer one weekend at a time :-)

jah457 10-20-2017 05:21 AM

I'll have to wait another week to get the CV Driveline rubber boots being shipped from the USA, only one here in Canada and I need two. I guess today I'll do a dry mockup of the 1863 CV driveline with JeffinPA's couplers. I can also fit and mount the rear axle brackets from Aaron at Extreme Motorsports. Looking forward to some garage time after a stressful work week. Pictures to follow of course :-)

Here's some Pics of what I did on Sunday. So far, axles seals, 'cork' hydro gasket, new Trunion Springs, Xtreme Motorworks Rear Axle Brackets, 1864 CV Driveline dry-fit, and driveshaft adapters by JeffinPA. Still waiting on the driveshaft rubber boots...
