Ok guys/gals let us see your green thumb skills. Here's a few of my little garden. Everything is doing really well this year compared to last year with the drought we had. I only hope the rain keeps coming.

Got tomatoes, bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, green beans, peas, baby lima, okra, sweet corn, and yellow squash.

Thanks for the Pics, so wild to see gardens that are in full swing this time of year. Ours is mostly planted but most things still hiding from the cold. The covers are on the winter, summer and melons and cukes still. Garlic is doing well, it likes the cold. Things will look a whole lot different in a month or so. Warm weather is on its way. Fun to see other gardens.

Good looking bunch of greens guys.:beerchug:
You all are WAY ahead of us here, we just first got ours planted two weeks ago.:bigthink:

J-Mech 06-02-2017 11:58 PM

Looking good guys!

Rain kept mine out. I'll post pics when I can, but I only planted a small part of it recently. My corn just now emerged.

SS5150 06-03-2017 01:47 AM

Planted ours 2 weeks ago. Beans, onions, and carrots are emerging. Waiting on lettuce. Got some squash, peppers, tomatoes and brussel sprouts. I think I'm going to add some radishes and jalapenos too.

1st time I've done a garden myself but we had one at my parents' for years growing up. Used my Dad's old tiller to get it going.

Bamafan, garden looks amazing! Ours is doing a lot better than last year. Have broccoli, cheddar cauliflower, red cabbage, red onions, jalapeƱos and bell peppers, several different tomatoes varieties, cucumbers, bunch of lettuce and kale been cutting like crazy, some celery, cantaloupe and watermelons

Rmowl 06-03-2017 12:44 PM

Three forks, that looks like a commercial operation! Awesome garden! I love Montana, worked on a cabin for the USFS handful of years ago in the bitterroot, stayed in Hamilton, best fly fishing I have done in my life! Also worked near you on a cabin for the NPS and stayed in Bozeman. I'm gonna end up living out there one day, beautiful country and nice folks

West Valley G 06-03-2017 10:08 PM

It is a commercial setup, its how I make my living in the summer. And it keeps me off the streets as they say.. My fishing partner grew up in Hamilton
and worked for the USFS in the 60s in the Bitteroot. small world.

NICE!!! It's been real wet down here around Birmingham. Looks like you are way ahead of most of Alabama! When did you plant?

Rows are a little crooked, but the kids helped plant and that's ok... and I have some weeds popping up.

You get more seed in a crooked row!

Back when I was young and dad was trying to teach me how to plant corn he would gripe about my crooked rows. I tried telling him that you get more seed in a crooked row. He did not think that was funny and chewed me out good. Dad was known for his ability to plant arrow straight rows. They looked like you had autosteer and a gps. The wife and I decided that we will not plant a garden this year because we are doing a add on to the house and will not have the time for it. I will miss my fresh veggies!!!!

This is my small garden behind the house. Took this picture about a week or two ago. Its been dry in my neck of the woods so I am hoping for some rain.

From Left to right:

3 Rows of Silver Queen (99 stalks in all)

1/2 Row of Straight Zuchinni
1/2 Row of Crookneck Squash

2 Rows of Spineless Okra

Last Row on right:

13 Tomato Plants (6 Big Boy, 6 Better Boy, 1 Hybrid Cherry)

Mamoth Jalapeno Pepper, Sweet Banana Pepper, Tabasco Pepper, and Sweet Bell

Off to the side I have a few cucumber as well.

Question: How often do you guys fertilize once your plants start fruiting out? I've heard that once you have some vegetables after the blooms, you can fertilize a small amount about once every ten days, but I've had a garden for about 15 years and never done it more than 2 or 3 times.

Bamafan 06-21-2018 11:04 AM

Garden looks good Chad.
I couldn't put in a garden this year because of back surgery. But there is next year.
As far as fertilize. I fertilize when I plant, then when the plants get a good start I will side dress 2 or 3 times. For my tomatoes I use miracle grow at about 2 week intervals all the way through the season. Also on my pepper plants. I have always had good luck this way. But when its really dry don't forget to water.

Chad126 06-21-2018 11:52 AM

Thanks Bamafan. I'll look into the MiracleGro.

I've used it on plants around the house, but never with my garden. I've got some at home so I may give it a shot this evening. Hopefully I can post some pics of good progress here soon.

Hope the back is healing up well!

Buckwheat is an awesome cover crop. That's a cool picture. We just turned
under a field of that this week. It will do a dandy job of re seeding itself if
left to long after it flowers. It all depends on what goes in that spot next year
whether of not we worry about it. Fun to see and hear the bees in it eh?
