Looking at a 1211

I have found a 1211 that is about 2 hours from me. Can anybody tell me anything about the engines? What series? I know that they are 12 hp single cylinder. Thanks in advance.

olds45512 04-08-2017 05:17 PM

The engine is a magnum 12, same as the k series but with a magneto instead of points/coil. I love my 1211, it runs a 44" deck with ease.

CubDieselFan 04-08-2017 05:21 PM

That was what I was needing to know. It has the 44" as well. Thanks.

Sam Mac 04-08-2017 06:54 PM

Engine mounting is the same setup as a QL.

Do they have solid mounts?

Sam Mac 04-08-2017 08:06 PM

nope, they have the rubber crap. I had a 1210, ended up repowering it with a Vanguard 16HP. The Mag12 is a good engine I just hated the mounts and drive shaft issues. Probably should have bought a set of solid mounts from Jeff in pa.

The Mag 12 is still running great, Sam!

No.... it's similar, but different.

My 1050's mounts are solid. As far as I know they are original.... unless Ryan replaced them before I got it... :bigthink:

1210 & 1650 engine mount setup. Looks pretty much like a QL to me.

CubDieselFan 04-09-2017 09:26 AM

Sam, what drive shaft issues did you have with your 1210?

The 1050 uses an entirely different mounting setup that looks like nothing else in any other tractor but still has rubber mounts, at least mine does. My 1050 is extremely smooth at all rpms which leads me to think it's a better mounting system than the rest.

V30crewcab 04-09-2017 09:31 AM

I got a 1050 and a 1210, they both have rubber mounts, but they are both different setups.

It liked to eat the rag joints. When I repowered it I went with the CV shaft out of a 1440/1641.

CubDieselFan 04-09-2017 03:24 PM

They sold it after they said they would hold it. I even offered them more than they were asking. Oh well, some people, their work is no good.

I didn't remember that the 1050 was different. After both you guys pics/posts, I remember now. I was thinking they were all like a 1050.

Tim, I agree with you. My 1050 is smooth. It's a much better mounting system. No reason you couldn't use a reproduction of that mount in the QL's and 1210/11 or 1282.

It is back for sale from ever who bought it. Has anyone ever tried to run a 50"? It does not show it on the Cub Cadet website but do anyone think it would be a problem?

Maybe they did you a favor as it has problems you might not want to address?
:bigthink:

J-Mech 04-12-2017 10:02 AM

I've ran a 50" deck on my 1050. I'd surely think a 12hp hydro would handle it better.

That was what I was thinking. It is just 6" more.

I think they just bought it to flip it. The previous seller sold it cheap. It was his father's mower and he just passed away. We will see. As long as there is no vibration I will most likely get it.

olds45512 04-12-2017 11:56 AM

I have a 1211 and a 1050 and both have a 44" deck, I can tell you that the 1050 handles it better and doesn't big down as much in high grass but I think my 1211 need some governor and throttle adjustment as it doesn't seem to run as fast as the 1050.

CubDieselFan 04-12-2017 12:18 PM

It does not appear to be the same mower. 1400 hours and it has pto problems. I am not sure if I want something else to work on right now. I got him to 325.00. I will post a picture later today.

Mine has a little over 1100 and still runs great with no smoke.

He said this one did not smoke. I have a PTO from a1810 and it is the same for a 1211 so I am leaning more to get it.

olds45512 04-12-2017 01:00 PM

Looks like it has fresh paint, the overspray just adds a little more protection for the deck. If it runs and drives it's probably worth the $325 but I'd wave $300 in his face and see if he bites.

CubDieselFan 04-12-2017 01:54 PM

He was asking 400.00, I got him to 325 on the phone. I hate to drive 2 hours and risk not getting it.

darkminion_17 04-12-2017 07:15 PM

That looks nice, if it were $150 I would go get it.
At 325.00 you will find out the issues it has when you get there and maybe he will lower the price.

DieselDoctor 04-12-2017 07:40 PM

Doesn't look bad, check it over on a test ride and if you like it, bring it home.

ACecil 04-12-2017 09:30 PM

I agree. Hope you get it.

CubDieselFan 04-15-2017 05:59 PM

Got her home. She needs some work, but the engine seems strong. Has a leaky rear, deck locked up and has drive shaft wobble. What would be a good drive shaft to replace it with? I will post the required pictures later tonight.

olds45512 04-15-2017 06:27 PM

I would replace it with the same style shaft it has, talk to Jeff.

The shaft may be ok, it may just be the flex disk.

DieselDoctor 04-15-2017 09:58 PM

Doesn't look too bad. Fix it up and you'll have twice the tractor as one from Blowes or Home Cheapo.

ACecil 04-15-2017 11:44 PM

Congrats on the 1211!

Dirty Steve 04-16-2017 06:04 AM

Nice looking tractor from where I am sittting. :beerchug:
