Have to thin the herd
3 Attachment(s)
I guess when you need more room something has to go:bigthink:, so getting rid of a few that there isn't much left of. Then I can get others out of the yard before grass starts to grow.
|
Please tell us you didn't smash them with the trackhoe and bury them.....
|
Excavator makes me nervous, you making scrap iron out of those?

Maybe the little yellow critters magically turn in to the big yellow critters. Now that would be a cash cow...... :biggrin2:
|
With all those Cub Cadets......you are worried about the grass growing?:RollEyes2:
:biggrin2: |
Who doesn't want a parts store in their own back yard? Wow. How are you going to trap those cubs? I hope it is humanely done....:biggrin2: You are wise to do it before the grass grows tall because they can hide in the tall grass and dart out when you go to catch them. They kind of already look like they are grazing in the field.

No smashing or digging involved:biggrin2:Just lifting and moving onto trailer.I've been holding onto way too many that have nothing left to offer so 30 or so are leaving.I had a couple that were here so long they had grown trees from between frame rails.
|
Are they going to scrap or do you have a buyer. I sure someone on here would take them off your hands for a little more than scrap.
|
Scrap, this is the first I've ever scrapped a cub cadet.
|
Well, thanks for sharing. What a great place to show you smashing up the very thing we collect. Yes, this is a great thread. I see parts in the stack that I sure could use. But, you say it's junk, so have at. :beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse::beatdeadhorse:

Just a thought, you may want to talk to Patton about selling to them before doing the scrap thing. I get it that sometimes you just need to clean house.

You have more machines than Patton acres and your hauling them to the junk. This thread is really out of line for the forum in my opinion. I best just stop before I really tear into someone. Wouldn't make me so upset if I didn't see good parts in the stack. Unless everything is rotted out or broke. In which case, keep it to yourself. Don't post it on here :BB&YS: |
Jon.frames that pullers hacked at and destroyed, broken front axles, broken cast headers, rusted out sheet metal? If you see something you want let me know I have more that are actually usable.Sam,i talked to Ray a couple years ago about tractors and was down to his place,he scraps more than I could ever bring myself to, because there are parts that just are not in demand.
|
Throw open an invitation to all Cubbers in the area to come out to your place and wheel / deal on what you're wanting to get rid of. Make it a 1 or 2 week open window. Who knows, you might get rid of quite a bit and I know you'll make more $$ than the scrapper will give you.
Just a suggestion. Then we won't cry as much when you post things are going to the scrapper. :Cry1: |
I guess I the odd ball in this group, it honestly doesn't bother me to see stuff like this go to the scrap yard. I tossed some stuff for a 36" timed deck the other day along with some other stuff that I saved that I will never use because I didn't want to bother trying to sell it and ship it.
If Patton didn't want it, it's not hard to come by. |
Agreed Sam.
It's yours, do what you want with it. When I was growing up ownership was .999 percent of the law and you could do what you wanted with it. I still go by that. It's not your duty to be a parts provider to everyone that may want a part. If everyone would be an organ donor I'm sure that would be appreciated too but that's not the case. I'm sure that if you never owned one Cub those needing parts would surely find them or do without. Good luck with your cleanup and if you continue with new Cub additions to your yard, that's your right too! :American Flag 1: |
I'm sorry I clicked on this thread. I thought somebody was thinking about selling some stuff. I know scrapping goes on but I try not to think about it.
|
What a waste. You will need something from the stack. Why on are you buying more?
|
I don't have much of a problem with what he's doing, looks like the trailer is loaded with all the stuff you can't even give away. I have a pile of frames and junk sheet metal sitting here and I guarantee if I posted it up for free not a single person would come for it. Should I let it sit in my yard and rot away and make my house look trashy or give it to the scrap man for what little money I can get?
|
I am with Tim on this also, seems like you can't even give some stuff away.
Mark, that's pretty good you only scrapped that many, I been to Rays and seen the dumpster full with 20 others waiting to go in the next one. |
I'm in the same boat as Mark. I have a hard time scrapping junk stuff though! LOL
One of these days I might have to do the same thing because I have so much stuff. Hopefully, it will be a lot of years from now but will have to happen at some point I'm assuming. I think the hobby is dying and way to many parts out there and no demand. :bash2: |

I can see both sides of this issue. I have looked at parts sitting around and wondered myself, "Why am I keeping that?", but then I think....well, they aren't making that anymore and every year there are fewer of them around. Ultimately, they are yours to do with as you please. However, I liked the suggestion of offering them for 1 week to anyone who might want to come for them or pay you to package them and ship them, if that is your desire. In my area, the pullers seem to always be looking for rear ends and frames to cubs because they know how strong they are. I've seen guys at the Tri-State Engine show who sold their cub extras (like what you have) quickly and had a roll of cash in their hands and I've seen guys who couldn't sell a running cub for $70. From a distance, the hoods looked useable and several other parts. Seems like even the NF lift handles/rockshafts are requested occasionally in the "Wanted" section of the forum. Some of us just see them as a part of history and think it a shame to destroy them. That's a good thing when people feel as passionate about their hobby to try to preserve as much of it as possible. One man's junk is another man's treasure. Cub Cadet 123 |
I'm just sad to see the red hood and grille in the stack, I wouldn't mind having those to put on my 1862 with no frontend. too far away though. can't seem to find those metal hoods around me hardly.
|
Thanks for the correction.
Yep, I put the decimal in the wrong place. Oh well, I'm sure most got my meaning, just as you did. |
?
You should post what you are getting rid of so you may save some parts. Just sayin
I could use a couple parts... |
Guys, this was not a spur of the moment decision, the tractors I hauled have been here at least 8-10 years, there were no usable body panels without major skills ,i even pulled some pieces off after I loaded them because I thought maybe some day someone might need that.Yes I have outside storage,i also have about 50 cubs inside.I buy cubs to save as many as possible,I have never and will never part a nice tractor, but that is exactly what everybody expects because they want nice parts for their own tractors,Rant over, Mark

What a waste. Its as bad as the jerk who lets something rust away into the ground and not sell it to some one who can use it. Only in America, I swear. |

What I find interesting is that you pick on only my post to bitch about when the thread was full of others holding the same. Your a real piece or work Charles. Claiming to be all about fairness, and mistreatment, and how I should not post my opinion, then you happily state yours. If you don't think I can post an opinion, then keep yours to yourself as well. Just for the record, Mark PM'd me. He's not upset with me, and I told him I probably overreacted. I still don't think it was really appropriate to post this thread, but it is what it is. Now that I have voiced my opinion, and you yours, why don't you move along to another thread like I did. I have nothing more to say in this thread. |

Jonathon as usual you missed the point. I have no problem with your opinion. It is the way you express your opinion that is the problem. The fact that you admit you overreacted proves my point. |
Wow has this thread turned into a flaming rant. How about we all just cool it. Play nice guys. :beerchug:
|
I've offered to give away parts and junk tractors I don't want or can't use. It only takes a couple wasted Saturdays sitting around for guys who don't show up to give up on being nice. Now I call a scrapper and he's here within 48 hours.
|
Geez, I can't believe this tread is still going on. I think the OP should scrap the whole mess. He has said multiple times that it's all junk. It's his junk? Haul it to the scrapper and maybe you can get beer money at least. :biggrin2:
|
HaHaHa,if I drank.I have no problem with anyones opinions that have been voiced, either good or bad.:beerchug:and everybody have a good day
|
Totally amazed by some of these responses.
