QA42 snow thrower
Is there some trick to getting everything lined up when trying to bolt on the QA blower to my 127? It seems to me there is some trick I'm missing. It took me at least half an hour and one blood blister later I finally got both sides in place and the pins underneath all lined up at once. The darn thing is so heavy to move and wiggle into place.

Practice :biggrin2:

Do you have the Owners Manual...... Manual
|
Be thankful that it is not a 450, 451 or 551. those are real brutes to get lined up and in place too.

does anyone have a spare lift link for one of these QA 42's? I have one with everything "but" that. Will be going on (not sure which) my 1200 or my 129.

You should do a #2 tiller. :biggrin2:

Don't know about the 127's
but I find on dirt/uneven surfaces on the 782's, it is easier for me to mount the mule drive/gear box first,-- then slide the thrower up to it and put the lower shaft in, to marry the 2 together. You do have to put the spline shaft into the yoke, before you slide it all the way together. And it makes them easier to move around/store/lift as 2 units. But it is just my way of skinning a cat. Disclaimer: No cats were harmed/injured in the process.:biggrin2: |

I make an adjustable rod 28" - 32" http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...h_DSC01770.jpg |
I used to have a haben 42" snowblower. I ended up trading it for an old sears tractor. Not much room for fingers to help line everything up.

I do end up using the "universal adjective" quite a bit if I have to install it myself. An extra set of hands is a big help |
I do it like George did, I install the mule drive/gear box first, it's easy to align the pulley and bell this way, then I install the 2 lower side bar with their shaft, the drive shaft, the 2 top side bar, the lift rod and finally the chute "rotator".
I don't know why but I feel as a fracking parrot! :BlahBlah: |
I have a dolly that I place under the thrower in the spring and lower it onto. Unhook it from the tractor and roll it away. In the fall I do the opposite, the dolly makes it easier to wiggle in place. Also I find that if you tip the qa ears up, you can just catch the Frankenstein bolts then raise the pins and slide it all back in place before it falls off the Frankenstein bolts and drops to the floor. :bash2:

x2 on that, level ground helps a lot too.

I have a Qa36a on a 149 tractor. Have had it off and on twice since I have owned it. It is currently mounted to the 149 and I have vowed that it will not be taken off again. I will buy me another tractor before I take it off again. Just too old to try to move that thing around. Have a great day.

I use Berwil's trick too, I have a moving dolly I roll under the blower, makes it easy to stash away between seasons. Not quite as good as 2 hands, but better than a sharp stick in the eye!
