Fuel Line
Does anyone know where I can get a stainless or copper fuel line for the K161? I had 1 spare and used it, now need 1 more? Is there a supplier or a chance someone has one in their spare parts?

You can buy 1/4" (OD) usually at any Hardware Store.

Is it the same as steel brake line? Not sure about the brass nuts though.:bigthink:

Got one on the bench right now. And no, it is not for sale. Hard to read but the OD is 3/16 and a 1/8 drill bit fits inside.
|
If it is 3/16" OD, there is Copper tubing that size. That may be a tad harder to find. Usually a HVAC/R type of business carries it. I know I do.

Looking at the picture Dirty Steve put up the 7 must be different than the 10 and 12. Join

I made mine for the "O" Ronnie. But I'm not going through the whole thread trying to find it. Sorry... I used copper tubing. Pretty easy to make, just take your time, so not to kink it. Never good when it gets kinked.
Nuts I got from "somebody":biggrin2: |

Ronnie there's no flange on the end, just straight cut. I might have one I will look
|
Ronnie:
The rubber bushings, when compressed by the nut, provide the sealing. As previously stated, it is a straight cut ends. :IH Trusted Hand: |
PM Lew, he made some up awhile back.

Squirrels have nuts, so do chipmunks, you also need the elbows to put your nuts on.
Case IH has them too. |
This is just too complicated. I WILL find a used one. If not, I will put rubber on it and be done with it.
|
Put a rubber hose on it and run it. That's what I would do. Forget the metal line. Isn't worth the hassle.
|
IHCCW has two nuts. Part number KH-220786. They also have a picture of the line itself but don't have any.

I found these at a hardware near me. They fit in the carb. and sediment bowl. Any reason they wouldn't work with the compression nuts?

Those appear to be made for a copper style ferrule. No, they will not work with the rubber style ferrule.
|
Looks just like the one that was on my 104.

Are you sure about that? They look like what was on my O. :bigthink: |
Yes, I'm pretty sure. Hardware stores don't sell the type for rubber seal. The threads are different at the nut. It's a fine thread on the rubber type, and the flange is different. With a nut on and screwed down tight, they look identical, but they are different thread.
Now, would they seal..... Maybe since it's just gravity fed. But I'd lay a dollar down and say the nut already on the line is fine thread. |

Yes I am getting one dollar.

OK, I give up, so, how many points will I be docked for using non-OEM fittings on the fuel line??
Long as the nut fits and mushes down tight around the fuel line and into the fitting..and it don't leak.....who the he!! gives a rats azz!!?? |
If he's got a old nut, and it fits, I'll send Lew the dollar.
IH tractors used the same fittings, but standard hardware store ones are threaded/sized different. BTDT too many times, but I'll eat crow and send the dollar if it works. |

When I get home, I'll go through my fittings. I *think* I have some of each style. I'll post pics if I can find the fittings. |
Do you need my address?
|
The ones you show on the eBay picture are listed to fit serial number 315229 and below. Different number for 315300 and above.
|
Well.... looks like I get to eat crow. I went out and looked and looked.... and looked some more. I had a carb with the original fitting on it. I went to the drawer and pulled out a random, run of the mill fitting that used a brass ferrule. What do you know, the nut fit.
On the larger Farmall tractors, they used the exact same set-up, only bigger line. I have had these apart more times than I care to count. Diesel engines also used the same line. I couldn't find a single one of those fittings, or I would show you how they differ from a standard ferrule style fitting...... but I assure you, they are very different, so either the small 1/8" pipe size fittings are made different due to the size, or IH just used a different style on a Cadet than the other machines. I don't know, and for today, I'm tired of looking for answers. :beerchug: Quote:
EDIT: Never mind Lew, I do have it. |
FWIW, I took an original elbow with me. When I got home, I screwed the new one in and the threads were the same. I don't see a problem with them?
|
Finally. Got all the parts and just made my own. If anyone needs one, I have a couple sticks of stainless. Never mind the Sarge hair. :biggrin2:
