Early Plow

I have an early plow Im not sure what model Brinley but it looks like the PP-100 only it has a totally straight tounge and has an odd hitch set up with no taper down and the hitch is on an angle. What model is this and how and the H E double hockey sticks do you hitch it up????

J-Mech 02-04-2017 11:08 PM

I use a hitch pin when I hook up my plow....

The thing on the front is my mad scientist drunk homade idea to hitch it it works but it's not right at all and I want to hitch it the way it should be.

That's not a Brinly plow.
It's not even a sleeve hitch plow. Looks like maybe an old plow for a walking tractor.

The plow on the right is an early Brinly plow:

The back half looks to be the same Brinly plow that I posted in the picture. Someone modified the front half of your plow. The second picture looks to be the hitch set up for an early Wheel Horse.

My early Brinly plow was a single hole hitch.

Can I convert it back over or something?? or should i just make my home made idea a little more solid looking?

Your in Pennsylvania..... Just go find another plow. Much easier, and they are everywhere.

Depending on you metal fab skills you could modify the framework to look like this:

This a Homelite plow. Simplicity made the plow for Homelite.

I may have an extra frame if you want to go that way.
PM if you are interested.

ok so that looks good but what is the angle of that piece of steel/a brinly arch and how long is a regular brinly plow.

mjsoldcub 02-06-2017 12:34 PM

Not to be nosy, but does that anvil in your shop have a name on it????

Looks like a hay budden.....

Shaner 02-06-2017 08:51 PM

Looks like a plow someone made for a wheel horse sleeve hitch

Back side of the standard to front bolt holding hitch on is 27 inches. There is an 15 degree angle built into the hitch so the plow will be close to straight up and down when your right side tires are in a furrow.

Here is anther Simplicity plow that I modified to accept a Brinly hitch:

I also have 2 extra Brinly frames that are up for sale.

Your moldboard-standard-frog should bolt up to a newer frame. The plow on the right in my earlier post is an older style frame with a newer moldboard-standard-frog on it.

The blue and yellow plow don't plug as easy as a Brinly frame plow does.

Thanks! :bigthink:
