A Couple More
 

Going to pick this up when the weather warms up. It is a long road trip, and the fellow that has them says he is in no hurry. 1st is a recoil Original that is 75% correct. It currently has a K181 in it, but he has the original 161 that was in it. He also has the original Fairbanks and Morse pull start to go back in it. I have a completely rebuilt 161 sitting in the garage. I don't know what year it is, but couldn't I just take the coil and magneto out of the 181 and switch it to the rebuilt 161?
2nd one is a 1961 plain jane Original, but is in good shape. Here are a couple pics of the early one.

That looks nice, not sure what is going on with the recoil, hopefully the other is usable.
Prolly broke the recoil spring.
So when you picking them up?

IMO I'd go get it sooner rather than later so he doesn't change his mind.

I've heard this before from sellers and then all of a sudden they won't take your calls, emails, etc and POOF it's gone.
If you want them, make it happen.

He told me there's nothing wrong with the original one. He said he just liked the other one better. It attaches to the dash tower and makes it easier to pull? I am going in March. It's a 12 hour drive, but I am gonna stop and visit family while I'm there.
He gave me his word and that's good enough for me. He said they have been just sitting in the barn taking up space. I offered to pay him now, but he said they weren't going anywhere, I had first refusal. And I won't refuse the deal he gave me. He also has the decks, spare parts and a push blade for a O.

Believe me, I felt that way until I talked to him. I was ready to jump in the truck and leave. :bigeyes::beerchug: But I still need to know if the mag. and coil will fit in the new engine I have? I can't think of a reason it wouldn't?

Those parts are specific to the 8 and 7hp,better look them up here.

Just thought, are you still in touch with Duke? He is a walking talking encyclopedia when it comes to the Originals... Didn't you get that engine from him, or is that a different one? Just a thought.:bigthink:

Thanks Todd and it is that engine. But Duke seems to have dropped off the face of the earth? He normally text, calls or emails me a couple times a week, but I haven't heard from him in 2 weeks. He was having some personal problems last time we talked. I kinda worry bout the old boy.

That's what I thought Lew. The 181 is a 8hp, so the swap shouldn't be a problem?

there some different mag setups and may need to change bearing plate also to put on k161

Thanks for the info. I hope he still has the parts I need as it had a 161 on it at one time. I would like to put the new engine I have back on it.:biggrin2:
