Trip to Maryland
1 Attachment(s)
Well, it's been 4 years since I went to visit my bro, so I packed up and headed to Maryland for 10 days. 12hr drive and DC traffic, but I made it in yesterday evening.
Lance is a member here, (sir lancealot). We are planning to do some repairs to his Cub collection and build a lean-to on his storage shed so he has a place to keep them all. Well post pics when we can. For now, it's lunch time. A post is worthless without pics, so here you go. We plan to take some Sam Mac advice and swim while we consume adult beverages when it's time for breaks. :biggrin2: |
It's time for a break. It's 5:00 o clock some where. :beerchug:

We missed our chance.
Thought we'd wait till evening.... but a small storm blew in and it rained. Now it's too cold to swim. Oh well... tomorrow's another day! Enjoying beer on the patio next to the pool though! |
I remember DC traffic. I lived in Germantown & Damascas back in the late 80's. Sounds like a fun time J, what's next.
|
Finally got to enjoy the pool today. Freezing at first, but after a few minutes.... it was niiiiiiiiiccce. :BlahBlah:
|
J I'm in Orlando till Wed....When are you headed back and coming through Frederick?
|
Randy,
Sent you a PM. :beerchug: |

I really need to catch up on this thread! Been a busy week in Maryland.
Over last weekend, Lance and I built a lean-to on the side of his storage shed. He is running out of room for his Cubs. We got the structure built on Sunday. The pics below are from the build. He plans to enclose the sides and leave the side with the posts open. Not bad for a day build. We finished the flashing on the roof this afternoon, but he will put the fascia boards on when he encloses it. Attachment 78275Attachment 78276 Attachment 78279Attachment 78280 Attachment 78281 |
Today was a great day!
Didn't do much around the house, but Lance and I met up with Leadslingingdaddy (Randy) and had lunch. Sorry guys, no pics. (It's better that way anyway. :biggrin2:) Randy, it was good to finally meet you! We both enjoyed it. Next time I'm out here, we'll do it again! Maybe next time, we can enjoy and adult beverage and a cigar. :beerchug: |
Yep Randy is a cool guy, glad you got to meet him. :beerchug:
|
:beerchug: Nice there Jon, so when is the trip home start???
I did go to see my sister in Kansas this summer and drove strait home LOL, about 20 hours :biggrin2: And we have about 3/4 of our building up but Dad and I are getting there.... |

Trip home is Saturday. I moved it back a day because your dad said you guys could meet me then to get the "O" engine back. I need to call you tomorrow to set that up. :beerchug: 20 hours..... 12 was long enough for me. I've done longer..... when I was younger and used to drive more than I do now. :biggrin2: Wish I could come by and see it. Just too far out of the way. Hope you can come on Sat so I can meet you too! :beerchug: |
I will be waiting for your call, Yeah I will be driving so I will meet you then, :biggrin2:
|
Jon,
Great meeting you and Lance... Hope you found the tour interesting and to see your tax dollars at work!!! lol Tried to get you some action but the local gave us the thumbs up... Cigars next time for sure!! Have a safe trip back and txt me if you need a get out of jail for free card!! lol Just no Road Rage Incidents.. : -) |
Randy, I really appreciate the tour! It was awesome! No way I would have ever had that opportunity, outside of you.
We had a great time, Lance and I, even though the lunch part was short. I'm going to leave him your contact info. He was actually pretty disappointed he didn't get to go on the tour. Maybe the two of you can hook up later on again. I look forward to seeing you on the next trip, and I hope I don't have to take you up on the other offer to get out of jail, LOL. If you ever pass though Illinois' east side on I-70 let me know. I'm not far from there. I leave out early in the AM. Next stop is in PA to meet up with Eric and Paul, then down the road back to Illinois. Catch you guys later! :beerchug: |
Have a safe trip, Jonathan!

Well I thought I'd give an update to this thread, since I've put some more work into the lean-to we started. I've now got some sides put on it to keep the stuff under the lean-to better protected. Next is to do some paint and trim work and it'll be all finished. I've now got 22'x14' for Cub storage! I'm gonna need more at some point, as it's mostly full already.

Lookin good!
|
It's awesome that your brother and you have something to share. I enjoy getting together with my brother and wrenching on stuff. Most recently we put new wheels on the front of his Farmall M.
|
I know you already sent me the pics, but it looks great!! Get some paint on it before it gets cold!
You ought to put up a couple pics of the pool. Looks good with the new concrete around it! :beerchug: |
Looks good Lance! Jonathan, if he was painting today I'd be more interested in the pics of him! He would have more paint on him than the shed!:biggrin2: I had 2 hands on the wheel going to Frederick today!:beerchug:
|
Windy there today? :biggrin2:
We rode the motorcycle today. It was a little breezy but not bad. Great day to ride!! |
Ya, to say the least! I was giving the dogs a treat this morning before I left and saw my Dads roll-around cooler go across the deck. It just missed the step. Got home and it sucked the flag pole out of the mount on the front of the house. Tons of small branches everywhere. Luckily nothing big down here.
