My buddy and I finished redoing my IH 782 making it into a mini IH 5288. It matches my mini 5488 now.

Very nice, Jerry!

john hall 08-14-2016 05:10 PM

Nice work! Are those real weights on the front or wood mock-ups?

Alvy 08-14-2016 06:05 PM

I'm sure those are real, he works those babies.

Very nice job as usual, excellent work

mhasewinkle 08-14-2016 06:07 PM

olds45512 08-14-2016 06:08 PM

They both look great, how much is it going to cost me for one of those grills?

dirtcowboy 08-14-2016 06:31 PM

Thank you everyone :beerchug: both sets of front suitcase weights are real weights. 120 lbs on the front of 5288 and 164 lbs on front of 5488. Allvy is correct I work them year round especially in spring and fall. I can do 90 percent of my crop with my cub garden tractors. I will ask my buddy who builds my grilles what his schedule is like to build more.:beerchug:

Here's a link to my youtube videos of a walkaround of both tractor. Thanks again!!

Shotgun Wedding 08-14-2016 08:31 PM

Thank you! It will be in the dirt soon, gonna use it to cover some wheat after I spread it on my sweetcorn ground after its all out. The corn is doing very good, I planted 3 plantings for a total of 27 rows. I just started picking out of the 2nd planting and it sells very fast, which is a good thing lol.

Sweet Looking IH's. :drool2: Like the rear wheel weights on both. Know where I could get some for my CC 3240?

Ebay.....

Very nice work as always Jerry!!

Yes.... ask your buddy if he will reproduce the grilles. Maybe the top vent's also. Would save me a lot of work on my build.... :biggrin2:

zippy1 08-14-2016 11:24 PM

Very nice Jerry, you out did yourself again.:beerchug:
I'm thinking by the responses to your thread, your buddy can stay pretty busy building grill... Cause I want one also.:beer2:

J-Mech 08-14-2016 11:44 PM

You know, I really don't understand why this wasn't the grille that they came out with anyway. Well... I do, because the '86 series tractors were the ones that wer out when they came out with the '82 series Cubs... and it had sold to MTD before the '88's came out. But, wow, they look better with that grille!

I like the paint scheme better too honestly.

Dirty Steve 08-15-2016 05:57 AM

I prefer this grille over the factory grilles that came out on the 82 series cubs. Me personally and this is just my personal opinion I think they look more like the 88 series than the 86 series other than the front grille and red frame. I do prefer the black frame with red body panels and silver rims over the stock appearance. I'm glad you like it, I'm pretty proud of both tractors, lots of hard work we both have in them. :beerchug:

Already 4 pages of "Gorgeous" "well done" "Beautiful" ect ect... after only 24hr

What can be add to that? Simple! I don't own a 82 series CC and I want to purchase a grill like yours! That's explain how much I like the job you done on those machines.

My hat down to the beautiful craftsmanship you and your friend did sir!

The headlights I bought from Napa and are not led, I couldn't justify spending that money since I'm not using them in the dark that much. I'm glad to have this one finished as I just put on another set of IH wheel weights on it today but I'm looking forward to starting it over again on my 582. As far as the grilles my buddy said he will make them to sell but he has other paint jobs he has committed to to get done first before he starts producing grilles. Once those are done I will start a post for all those interested in a grille. Thanks
