I was gifted a 105

A family friend up the street from me gifted me this 105 and a handful of implements. He said it ran just fine when he parked it 5 years ago. It was under a tree at a rental property of his and was covered in weeds and mud.

Its my first garden tractor, but I know my way around small engines. Not sure what sort of upgrades/direction I want to go yet, need to spend some time going through the older post. He said it was difficult to raise and lower the implements, looks like there are some options to fix that.

Ill post up some photos in a moment.

That will be a fun tractor!

Make sure it has a spring assist on the rear 3 point.. that will help tremendously with lifting the implements!:biggrin2:

And we do like pictures!!!:biggrin2:

OK, I added photos to the original post. :)

Wow, you got all that for free? Congrats.:biggrin2:

Dirty Steve 08-04-2016 11:05 AM

You certainly have a generous friend. Those attachments can be worth some serious folding money. Congratulations!

Terry C 08-04-2016 11:34 AM

Congrats!! Thoss are nice attatchments :beerchug:

cubcadet 08-04-2016 11:42 AM

Very nice find, congrats!:beerchug:

You have a some really great stuff there, congratulations.

The reason the implements are hard to lift is because they're heavy as "heck".

After you get it running and driving, get yourself a spring assist (as mentioned earlier) it will make lifting those things easier.

Go back and see if he has the long belt for the tiller... They're about a hundred bucks by themselves.

You need to give that person a big ol' kiss right on the mouth!!

All you have to do is spend a little money fixing it up and you are set for a long time. I would take it to the car wash and clean up everything well, drain the old fuel, fill with some non ethanol gas and give it a whirl, it may run like a top.

If not, you have come to the right place for help!

Oh, change the oil too!

Congrats on your 125 and attachments!

Alvy 08-04-2016 01:00 PM

Yeah that's a great deal right there. 6 pad looks good too. That baby will clean right up with some pressure washing. Interesting rear lights and also that it doesn't have spring assist? I thought I saw maybe a brinly spring assist on the right of that one pic but it's grainy. Anyway being a fellow member of the "I got it for free" club, congrats, very nice

SGragg 08-05-2016 12:47 PM

Spankin' good deal!!!

I'm sure your friend was just thinking about cleaning up his property and getting rid of some stuff. But for you, it's Cadet gold. :)

Congratulations!

budscub 08-05-2016 01:54 PM

I ll be glad to double your money. Lol man what a deal.Congratulations

yourshoesareuntied 08-05-2016 03:12 PM

Thank you for the nice comments. It's going to be fun to have.

Several weeks ago I mentioned to him his tractor and implements had a big following and was worth a fair bit. I suggested at least getting it out of the mud and on some pallets.. maybe cover it up. About two weeks later he came over and handed me the key and said he was looking forward to seeing what I can do with it.

Looking it over I'm optimistic it will start up with a little carb cleaner, it had a little gas left in it that went to varnish. The oil was full and clean.

Great haul.

6 years under a pecan tree. :biggrin2:

As someone who just got a 105 this week -- although not as good a deal as you received -- congratulations and good luck with it!

drglinski 08-05-2016 08:46 PM

Looks great. I'm surprised with those attachments they never bought a spring assist. I have an armstrong lift (manual lift lever) on my 147 and one of the first things I bought for it was a spring assist. I was concerned about bending the lift arm with the rototiller on the back.

Tim.E 08-05-2016 08:49 PM

NICE!!!!!!!!
You definitely need a spring assist (or 2).

REDDHOGG 08-05-2016 10:29 PM

Very nice ,i really like the work lights on rear apron .you do know that free tractor is going to led to a yellow fever ,and your cub habit will led to multiple tractors and more $$$$

vr4Legacy 08-05-2016 10:38 PM

WOW!

Sounds like the guy saw you're enthusiasm for the tractor and wanted someone else to get some good use out of it. Those attachments are quite a find!

BillZ 08-05-2016 11:22 PM

Awesome deal! You can't beat free!
