1200 is next
Going for a 1200 tomorrow, swapped a Craftsman front snow plow/blade and Craftsman manual rear lift for it. Sideways phone pics tomorrow afternoon. Sposed to have a deck and run! This will make 4, just dont tell the wife lol. These things seem to multiply quick, 4 in two years...129 104 and a 1650 now a 1200, must be a sickness...

Charged the batt and it popped off w/a new plug, carb is slobbering. Wow two pics correct and this one is sideways --all taken the same way on the same phone.

Has rear lift but no hitch, steering is tight. This pic sideways also. Has been under a shed. I am catching up guys--4 tractors all run, IH #1 cart, IH tiller, IH snow plow, Brinly cultivator, Brinly 10" pllow, 42 and 44 decks

The 4 year old battery charged up(!) and I drove it around the yard, its really tight and quiet, the button on the lift is stuck down. Has some water/crap in the fuel and the carb needs built, but no smoke or funny noises and oil is full and clean! The clutch works good and brakes actually work. April 79 build.

Congrats on the pickup and the slow arriving sickness. Like they say, you can't eat just one. Mike:biggrin2:

Got the carb off and it had fuel water and flecks of rubber hose in it and the float is heavy and sloshy. Still it ran, these are some tough old rigs. I'm gonna stick the deck under it and mow w/it once I go over it. I sold my backup greene mower so this will be its replacement. Wife has not noticed or said anything. She said to quit draggin them in...riiighhttt.

OK Brian, break's over,..:biggrin2: Time for an update.:bigthink:

April 79? Shes close to my 1200! What's the serial number? 650604 is mine! Curious how close it is!

You gotta remember that us guys in the heartland have to work to find em, not like back east where they apparently pay you guys to haul em off!!:beerchug: Randy |
Congrats on the 1200. Keep us updated, it's a shame the panels are gone, I think the QLs look pretty slick with them

I have a 1000 I grew up on and a 1450 that was a basket case when I found it. The QLs are great tractors once you get them dialed in.
Be sure to do the engine cradle mod. It makes a big difference. You should be able to find theair filter housing and side panels easily. There is a spring that goes in the front of the side panels that is somewhat expensive for what it is. I picked up some 1/4-20 kings for the thumb screws. Makes it easier to take the side panels off. I made a few hitches on a friend's mill. You should be able to do it on a drill press if you are handy. This web site as sponsors that can sell you the parts you need. If you need help PM me and I can point you in the right direction. I put a clutch in my 1000 last spring. Should be good for another 40 years. I love WF gear drives. I love my 1000 for sentimental reasons but I wish it were a 1200. The larger engine does make a difference. Looks like you have a bracket for a spring assist from the picture of the rear end. Also looks like the spring is missing. How much of it is on the tractor? That 1200 looks clean and with some TLC should serve you for decades to come. |
