It's gonna be a long one.

Tomorrow I have to deliver a tractor we restored to Warwick NY, on the way back I have to pick up another tractor that needs work. The trip will be about 700 miles total, Sunday I will be heading to Salem Oh to pick up another tractor for work. It's gonna be a long busy weekend.

how far's "not to far"?

DeltaCub 07-08-2016 09:53 PM

Salem is about 10 miles south of me. If you are taking 224, you will go through my town of Canfield then you are only about a mile away.

Well I finally made it home, it was a good day of driving even though the weather wasn't the greatest. After 700 miles my a$$ is kinda sore, tomorrow will be another 300+ miles to Ohio.

ACecil 07-10-2016 01:24 PM

Hope you had a safe trip, Tim.

jaynjeep 07-10-2016 04:55 PM

Glad you had a safe trip and got to see some of the members!:beerchug:

cubcadet 07-10-2016 06:15 PM

Sounds good, glad the trip went good.

olds45512 07-11-2016 10:01 AM

Went to Ohio yesterday, turns out I was going to West Salem and not Salem which is about an hour and a half further. It also turns out that the tractor I was picking up had loaded tires which put both the truck and trailer right at or a little over the limit. The half ton still pulled it fine and I made sure I gave myself a little extra room for stopping, since it looks like I'm going to be the one running for tractors now it might be a good time to upgrade to a 3/4 ton with a diesel.

Get a Dodge. :biggrin2:

Not on a bet would I own one of those rattle traps, those Cummins might be a little more proven than the duramax but the truck they put it in is crap.:biggrin2:

If you say so. :biggrin2:

I'll keep mine. 500k+ and still "rattling".
In a truck, I care about power and durability. Smooth rides are for girls and cars.

I didn't say that the Cummins doesn't have power or isn't durable, I said that the dodge truck they put it in is junk. I've fixed enough rusty Dodge's that I'd never want to own one.

From what I've seen, area makes a lot of difference. Around here, Chevy's and Dodge's bodies hold up about the same. For the most part, a Chevy will rust out faster than a Dodge. My dad has a 2000 or so Chevy S-10. It's rotted out as bad as my 1990 Dodge. But the Dodge just recently got bad. Dad's S-10 has been bad for years. I've even seen Chevy's as new as 2005 that are rotted. In my opinion, Dodge is no different. The trans in them get a bad rap if they have an automatic, but that's easily fixable. They just didn't build them heavy enough at the factory. Chevy got it right with the Allison. IMHO, that's the only good part about the Chevy. I've worked on the chassis alot on all trucks. Ford and Dodge are just built heavier. Chevy front ends shoot craps long before the solid front axles in the other two (talking 4X4). I could go on for a while about pros and cons from each manufacturer. All in all, they are pretty good trucks. I just think that after repairing so many, that the Dodge holds up the best. Most expensive part on any of the diesel trucks is the motor. The trans in all 3 are about the same price...... but you just don't have to work on a Cummins like you do the others. I will say, that when it comes to the newer trucks (2008 and up) they all give fits because of the emission BS that is on them. More of a headache than a help. My suggestion on whatever you want is to go older than 2008. Stay away from DEF units. That is where the EPA went and F#&*%D it all up.

Sorry to derail. I don't usually try to steer clear of the debate on pickups because people hold such a hostile opinion to them. Only people who truly know much about them are the people who work on them day in and out. Like I said, they all have good and bad points. Ok, off my soap box now. :beerchug:

Hi Tim, 10 miles from my old stomping ground up north. Home of Dragway 42 which i think is operating again. I believe the old owner of that track was the guy that gave Jay Leno that wild ride in Hemi Under Glass. And a junk yard(scrap dealer) i used to go to. I,ve seen some repeat cub sellers there and in Wooster, Doylestown on CL. Mike:biggrin2:

Tim,

Here is one that I did for my Dad several years ago.. 1940 9n... My grandfather bought a new one like it in 1941... Dad learned to plow with it in the late 40's at the ripe old age of 7!

I re did this one from the ground up... I painted everything but the fenders and hood... I enlisted a friend to shoot the sheet metal!:beerchug:

DeltaCub 07-13-2016 10:51 PM

Tim's paintwork is superb.

JaynJeep your Ford looks terrific. Both restorations are beautiful.:beerchug:
