What Implements for CC100
I'm wondering what implements might be available for my (new to me) Cub Cadet 100.
It seems to be a rather "plain Jane" tractor, as it doesn't have a 3-pt, PTO, creeper gear, or any of the neat additions. I bought it with a mower deck and that's all. Is there a way to install some sort of manual 3-pt on a Cub Cadet 100? I'd really like to get it set up to work in my garden, and I need some advice regarding "attachments" to shop around for if there's a way to add a 3-pt,... or,... are there attachments (such as a plow, disc, or, small culivator) that will work on my tractor without a 3-pt? Thanks for any info. Ron |
Ron,
There are many different attachments you can get for your cub 100. The list is quite long in fact. A IH 3 point is available for your 100, its not the typical 3 point though, but it is what is needed to hook attachments to the rear using a sleeve hitch. |
Thanks Lonny,... that's great news.
Any suggestions where I might find one of those 3-pts? Ron |
Hey Ron!!! How's it going good buddy!!!
Well first off, you'll need to locate and buy what's know as a 3 point hookup for these cubs. After that you'll also need to purchase a Sleeve Hitch Adapter. You can get a Sleeve Hitch Adapter either used or brand new or you could have someone make one for you. It's totally up to you on that one. Once you have all that installed onto your Cub Cadet 100, you'll be ready to start purchasing Sleeve Hitch type implements for your cub. Brinly,Simplicity and Ohio Steel are very popular when it comes to buying implements. By the way Ron, there are implements that do not require a sleeve hitch or a 3 point for that matter. They are know as "pull type" or "drag" type implements. They hook directly to the Draw Bar. You can still find the drag type of implements if you just do some asking and searching, you'll find them. Or go to our Parts Resources section here on the forum and I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for and what you need to start attaching implements to your cub. Here are some pics to help give you a good idea of what you will need. Please keep in mind that my tractor is a 61 Cub and the 3 point on this one is a little different than what you need. But it still works the same. Hope this helps in one way or another??? Take care Ron. This 3 point hook up is made for the Cub Cadet 100. To find one of these, you might to put up a Want Ad here on the forum. Or check with our Parts Resources section here on the forum. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...61/convert.jpg Or go to this website:http://ihccw.com/sleevehitch.html There you'll find this complete 3 point hookup for your 100 for $160.00. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...931_5Small.jpg Here's the Sleeve Hitch Adapter that attaches to the 3 point hookup. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c.../5307Small.jpg And here's how it all looks when it's all put together. Keep in mind your 3 point hookup will look a little different than mine. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...N0038Small.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...N0032Small.jpg Here's an example of what type of implement that you will be able to use with your sleeve hitch adapter. Your implement will need to be made to hook up to a sleeve hitch. Which just about every implement being made today is made for the sleeve hitch. http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...lade2Small.jpg http://i217.photobucket.com/albums/c...lade4Small.jpg |
WOW!!!!!!....... Thanks Cub61 for the great information.:High5:
I'm going to study those pictures and information over real good,... then, I'm going to start "shopping" for the things I need. :biggrin2.gif: |
No problem Ron!!!! Glad I could help. Good luck with your Cub Cadet 100 and if you have anymore questions, don't hesitate to ask. We're all here to help each other out. Take care good buddy and have yourself a great night. Take care.
By the way Ron, that pic of the sleeve hitch that I posted. You can find that same exact sleeve hitch here on this website. It's priced at $125.00.:http://www.cngco.com/Search.cfm?Grou...&Searching=Yes |
Hi Ronin,
Cub61 gave you some great info there. My cc100 didn't have the 3 point hitch or sleeve on it when I got it either. I purchased another cc100 for about $300 that had fenders and the three point hitch that I needed. The sleeve was on ebay for 5 bucks. So I fixed up that tractor and still got $300 for it. I guess what I getting at is there's so many way's to get what you need. Does your 100 have lights, fenders etc.. I loved to see some pictures I'm a big cc100 fan. Some of my posts have pictures of the three point set up if you'd like to see how it looks on a 100. :GoodLuck: |
Here is my 100 with the 3 point hitch and sleeve hitch adapter:

Hey Ronin, I don't know where in Ks you are from but the cub stuff is a little harder to find around here than back east. I think people just throw cub stuff in the back of their trucks as they drive down the street!:bash2:
Good luck in your search, I have found my stuff from craigs list, ebay and at auctions. :beerchug: Later,Randy |
Randy,... I'm located in northwest Kansas, and I fully agree that Cub "stuff" is extremely difficult to find in this part of the state.
I watched the classifieds for many years before finally finding my CC100. Grey531,... No, my 100 doesn't have lights, but it does have fenders. When my wife gets home, I'll have her post some pictures of it. Thanks fellas, Ron |
those are the attachments you need for drag type implements. also check out some front mounted ones like a blade or snowblower. creeper gear is quite expensive but neat. fenders are also an option. oh and like randy said, we do just thow cub stuff in the truck. theres stuff sitting everywhere up here.:biggrin2.gif:
|
Ronin, my wife and I used to live in Dodge City and she is from Syracuse. If you find something on craigs list near Kansas City I can help you get it back towards western Kansas.

In PA, there's a shed marked "Take a Cub, Give a Cub" on every street corner.

Here's a few pictures of my Cub Cadet 100.

Nice 100 Ron!

Thanks AC.:biggrin2.gif:
It's in the shop right now, and I can't wait to see what it's like when they get done "refurbishing" it. |
Ronin,
Thanks for the pics. Nice original condition 100 there. Did you say the tractor is in getting refurbished? Do you mean it's being tuned up or getting painted? If so I can't wait too see the results:ThumbsUp: That rear hitch is mounted differently than I'm used to seeing. Was it put on higher for traction reasons? Please keep us up dated and some pic's when it's done.;) |
I just now get it. Ron in KS :bash:
I am such a dork! Nice 100 Ron! Later,Randy |
Grey531,... by "refurbished" I mean the machine is getting everything fixed, or, replaced that needs it. That includes new clutch discs, weak or broken springs, worn linkages, worn bearings and bushings, clutch linkage adjusted, brakes adjusted, steering checked and new parts installed (if needed), and etc.
I think it will ALMOST be considered "restored" (mechanicaly) by the time I get it back, except it won't get a new paint job or have new front tires. Ron |
I have got to reconsider what I'm charging . I think my rates might be benevolent at best. :crap: Holy Cow.
|
Eagle Keeper,... I don't know what you charge for that kind of work, but the shop that's doing my Cub, is charging $48.00 an hr. shop time (plus parts).
David says he "might" be able to shave $200.00 off his total estimate (for parts) as he digs deeper into my Cub,... as his estimate is based on "worse case scenario". (I sure hope so ) It's too bad I don't live closer to you, 'cause I'd prefer to give my "business" to someone that's a member of this fine site. Ron |
Ron, thats a great hourly rate,,,,It just seems like the total bill is a bit steep. Didn't you say it was $1700 total including the original purchase price and new Rear tires ? If so , that brings your total to around $680. That leaves $1020 for the refurbishment . Man for a grand, I'd do all that you mentioned plus throw a nice coat of paint and decals on it. Which brings up a point. Has anyone here ever paid more than a $2000 for an old Cub refurbished ? Up to ,but not inclusive of the Super Cubs ? I know I have never sold one for that amount. Is there a market ? Good luck Ron and I look forward to the day your project is complete.
|
Eagle Keeper brings up a good question...I've got a 100 I'd like to practice my painting skills on before I restore my original, but when I added up the prices of all of the parts and gaskets and stuff I'd need, I kinda got sticker shock...$800+ for parts, paint, and decals. There's $60 worth of gaskets and seals in the rearend. If I could sell the finished tractor for $1100 or so, I'd do it, but I can't afford to spend all of that money on something I can't sell...

I gave $500.00 for the machine. Tires were $174.00 mounted (23x8.50x12 Carlise-sp? Ag-lugs 4-ply). And an estimate of $1,200.00 (worse case secenario) for parts and labor for the refurbish. If David comes in close to his estimate, I'll have a total of $1,875.00 in my Cub. I don't know where he's getting the parts, but I'm sure they're "new." Honestly, it was a tough call whether, or, not, to tell him to proceed with the refurbish, but I do like the old Cub.:ScrewLoose: :o ;) Ron |
Ron,
Think of it this way. At least you'll have a refurbished Cub Cadet, that will last you another 40 plus years. And it's still cheaper, than a box store machine. :beerchug: |
ACecil,,,Your such a positive guy !! I need some of your Karma. Anyhow Ron, I'm just trying to keep your well earned money in Your pocket. The items you have mentioned doesn't add up. The clutch I would put at about 80 bucks for a disc [max] and 2 hrs of labor [Max]. So that's 180 bucks. Sound about right Matt ? Maybe I missed something. Bearings and tie rod ends. 150 max ? Labor negligible . It's just not adding up. I'd like to see it itemized what they are changing out.
|
I actually went and added up all the prices for all the parts I thought I'd need. A clutch is about $125 if you replace everything...all the gaskets and the axle seals for the rear totals about $60...PTO clutch rebuild kit is about 50...New wiring harness is $50, voltage regulator is $90, rebuilding the starter/generator is probably $100 plus. My motor needs a gasket set, rings, a rod, and a carb kit, and even if I go aftermarket, that's $60 or so. It cost $100+ to completely go through a steering column. This isn't including paint, decals, and God only knows what all else I'll find when I take it apart. Oh, did I mention it'll need 4 new tires? See where this is going?
I have an excel spreadsheet with most of this if anyone is interested. |
Eagle Keeper,... I didn't write anything down when David called with his estimate, so I'm pretty much just going from memory (and at my age, that can often be a VERY scary thing :ROTF2: ),... but I think he'll treat me right, as he came pretty highly recommended from other lawn-mower repair shops. ;)
I'll post an itemized list of the complete "refurbish" on OCC when he gets it done. Ron |
If you are building it for you and you alone, don't be concerned about the money being put into it and if you could recoup the funds from selling it. I'm sure there is someone out there that would pay a good price for a nicely restored Cub Cadet, but one could have to advertise for a while before finding the right buyer.
When I called around trying to find someone to rebuild my CCO K161, the only guy that would do it was basically wanting to charge me $500 for re-assembling the motor. He was going to have someone else do the machine work and I'd pay that as extra plus all the parts. My dealer is a cool guy that helped me put it back together after hours and didn't charge me anything extra. I deffinately gave him a good plug when writing my article for Cadet Connection magazine last year. I think it's great to have all of the online resources and parts guys, but sometimes buying local will get you more help than just the parts you are buying. |
OK,.... here's the final bill on my "refurbished" CC100. (better then I had expected BTW:bouncy:)
10.60 Hours labor,.... $508.80 Cost of parts (and tax),.... $421.86 Total bill= $930.66 (and MUCH better then the $1200.00 estimate) RoninKS |
Not bad Ron! Now you'll have a nice tractor, that will last you for years.
|
Yeah,... I'm satisfied with it.
The steering is tight now, the brakes work, the "tinkling noises" are gone, it starts good, and I no longer have to pull the clutch petal up with my toe to make the machine "go".:D |

Man you guys have some beautiful equipment.:OffTopic: These are also the best pictures and explanation of what is going on at the rear of the tractor that I have seen anywhere.
|
Is it just me or is there something not quite right with the "Tow in" on this tractor ?
