North East Cab, Inc
Has anyone ever heard of North East cab by IH ? I just bought a cab that's metal and vinyl and seem to not be able to find more info on them. Pics to come of the cab when I get it home.
|
Every ih soft cab I've ever seen has been called a windbreaker, never heard of a north east.

There's a service manual floating around here for that Cab, from those pics I believe a couple members here have one. Here's a shot of mine.

Update....
I found a brochure in my stash. What model is yours as it is hard to read. Your cab looks like it is for a 70/100 |
Can't enlarge your attachment nor can read it.
|
I can read it. it says what it says.
|
OK...I'll play along. What is the point of posting it, if no-one can read it...???
|
pictures are worth a 1000 words, besides,I can see this brochure popping up on flea bay as a reprint if I made it more legible.

it amazes me the negativity from people in here, certain moderators included. when someone tries to help , people need to get a grip. i,m disgusted and if i pissed anyone off then oh well. ban me if you want,i dont think i will waste my time here anymore :BB&YS:

Well this is certainly getting out of control and I fail to see the reason.
1: The OP asked for info on a cab. 2: Lew post's a small copy of the brochure for said cab 3: Roland comments that the size of the brochure is too small to read 4: Lew comes back with a uncalled for reply about e-bay that I don't understand? Maybe someone can explain it to me. 5: Mud decides to jump in and threatens to leave. 6: And it's only Monday AM. gonna be a long week. :biggrin2: Is it cocktail hour yet? :beerchug: |

Cab Info
I just got off the phone with my buddy Scott at Curtis Cab and he's never heard of Northeast, BUT!
I'm going to send him pics and he's going to do some digging for everyone to find out exactly what the deal is. He initially is thinking that it might be an off shoot of the Simm's cab. He'll reply to me tomorrow with his findings and I'll relay it here. |
Perhaps I am to blame? I joked with Lew about selling his brochure. If I crossed any lines, then I am sorry for disrupting someone. But honestly, I did want to know why an original was pictured above the caption about it being for a model 70 or 100?....I was curious if it was also for the Original, as well. Guess that was directed more for Lew after he posted the picture of the brochure.

Curtis cabs were made in Springfield Mass. Looks like one too!
Hi Charlie! |
Straight from Curtis
From,
Scott S | Sr.Product Specialist | Curtis Industries LLC 1. Yes that is an old Curtis cab, no parts available for it, sorry 2. Curtis was never in or produced product in Springfield Ma. 3. It was Curtis cab before they changed the name Seems to be a little animosity towards North East Cab, as no one there really wanted to discuss them, LOL He did hint to the fact that it might have been a copy cat type of deal and they got caught midstream. |
Thanks Charlie:
I guess the Senior Product Specialist would know where they have been located more so than anyone else. There is an interesting twist to the Northeast Cab Co, being both them and Curtis were (or are) located in Worcester MA. |

Sorry, these ole eyes can't read anything on that tag. But with a magnifying glass, it "looks" like the same address as Northeast Cab. |
Sorry, Rolland, I have a heck of a time holding the dern camera steady also.
It is indeed the same address. |
No worries. LOL I had to get the ole Magnifying Glass out.
I done a bunch of internet searching, out of curiosity, and I could not find anything on this Northeast Cab Co. I am guessing it was a short lived company and my educated guess it died in the Mid 1960's. I am further guessing that, (A) that Curtis bought this company up, or (B) had them shut down perhaps for copyright issues. Interesting none the less. I went to the Wisconsin Historical Society which has a massive IH library and I could find no mention of Northeast. So, the mystery continues in the annals of time. :bigthink: |
