That is supposed to read "Is This A Good Deal" :BangPC: Edit - To whoever fixed that, :Thanks:

It's an hour away from me. http://terrehaute.craigslist.org/grd/5119094962.html

Back reflectors, battery hold down and the heat shield. Still a good deal :beerchug:

bocephus1991 08-16-2015 08:03 PM

That's a lot better than spending $1500 on a plastic throw away lawn tractor!

finsruskw 08-17-2015 08:54 AM

You're not there yet??
If not.....You Will be lucky it IT is still there!!

freedhardwoods 08-17-2015 04:24 PM

The ad is a month old and he sent me 3 emails in 15 minutes. I couldn't believe it was still there. He says he has $2,000 in it and wants me to make an offer.

I can't get there till Thursday. :bash2:

jimbob200521 08-17-2015 04:30 PM

I'm not typically a Narrow Frame guy but honestly, if that popped up around here, I'd probably jump on it. Looks like a very nice machine! If it runs and moves without any weird noises, I'd snag it in a New York minute!

Heck, if it wasn't 4 hours from me I may have deemed it worth the trip!

freedhardwoods 08-17-2015 04:46 PM

Thanks to everyone for the input. I really had no intentions of buying another tractor, but if it's still there on Thursday, I'll probably go for it.

I'm new to Cub Cadets. I've seen other references to narrow/wide frame. What's the difference? Is one better than the other, etc?

olds45512 08-17-2015 04:56 PM

A narrow frame has the same width the whole length of the frame where a wide frame is narrow in the rear and wider up front for the larger 14 and 16hp engines, ones not better than the other but the wide frames are easier to work on because of the extra width and removable tunnel cover.

I didn't have any intentions either:biggrin2:

No attachments? About 150 too much for me IMO.

Really? I can see more than $400 worth of new parts and tires in the pics, if that were mine I wouldn't let it go for any less than $600 and I'd have no problem getting it.

Sam Mac 08-17-2015 06:15 PM

I love it when a bunch of you guys pile on and tell someone to go and buy this or that. Then the poster buys it with the intention of selling and can't give it away. I have so BTDT. I'm now like Lew if it's not a steal I'll pass. I've saved enough old stuff from the scrap yard and I don't need the practice anymore. Rant over. :beerchug:

"bunch of you guys pile on and tell someone to go and buy this or that"

One thing that is common to all special interest forums is that people are great at spending others money!!! :beerchug: :biggrin2:

freedhardwoods 08-17-2015 06:41 PM

Maybe I should go into a little more detail. I won't go after it for $400. I don't get "caught up" in other peoples enthusiasm, but I do appreciate the info. I just don't need another tractor that bad. Still thinking about what to offer. If I get it, I'll use it.

finsruskw 08-17-2015 08:08 PM

So, you drive 1-200 miles or whatever...
Looks to me like he is looking for offers OVER $400!!
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I just reread the ad and was off base here w/my 1st comment!

Since this isnt posted in the 'is this a good deal section', and since its turning philosophical, I may as well throw my $.02 in:

Whether its a good deal depends on why you are doing this hobby.

If you like buying and selling then thats fine, and the question has to be how much more you can get for it than what you bought it for. And you have to cover time and costs. My experience has been mixed, but as others noted here its not always that easy to sell one.

Course if you just want bragging rights on how cheaply you bought something, then thats another threshold (but be prepared to learn that there is always someone else that got a better deal)

If you like collecting certain types, colors, models, rareity, then let that be your guide.

If you like saving them from the scrapyard, or just working on them, then decide if this one fits the purpose.

If your not sure what aspect you get enjoyment from, then try out a few things and you will find out. I know I am in a different mode than when I started.

Most of all, ENJOY the hobby!

Cub Cadet 123 08-17-2015 09:54 PM

I usually see them in worse shape go for more than that. If you want to make a buck off of it, then it should not be hard to either part it or re-sell it. Heck, the local HS band has even approached me a couple of times looking for something like that to pull their equipment trailer at field competitions.

Here is one of the emails he sent me - I have well over 2 grand in the rebuild. Its not about the money to me lol. It's all new

He did say "motivated to sell" in the ad. I guess I'll find out soon.
