Cub Cadet 124 Freebie
 

Just brought home this 124 freebie. Its not running at this time, but the engine is loose. Need to check things out and see what the problems are. The serial # is 250xxx which I believe makes it a 1968 model.

You did great for free :beerchug: I see a rear lift, wheel weights and headlights :bigeyes:

I charged the battery up, shot some gas in the carb, and it fired up. :biggrin2: The carb looks like it has some gummy gas residue in the throat so I will be pulling it down for a good cleaning.

Enjoy that one: Those deals just don't come along very often, especially when you can shoot a little gas to them and fire them up.

I pulled the carb and ran it through the sonic cleaner. It cleaned up good. I put a new fuel line on as the old one was rubbing on the throttle shaft. I put some fuel in the tank and within a couple cranks she was up and running. It seems to run pretty good. All of the gears work in the trans. the steering could be tightened up a little, but overall its a good sound tractor.

It a cheap one from Harbor Freight. I use straight Simple Green in it and have pretty good results. It amazes me how much crud it will remove.

She runs great! Does it have any smoke or burn oil? Man, you did even lower than a lew price. Now thats what is REALLY amazing.

Is that a lighter or something else?

That is the light switch for the headlights.

No smoke that I can see. I'll have to run it a bit to check oil consumption.

Well that's really good. Probably won't use any oil then if there's no smoke.

As you can see by my sig I'm on the lookout for a 124 and I wish I could find one that nice for free, congrats.

She's a bit crusty, but runs good. Mainly cosmetic likely.
