My 1980 IH cub cadet 582 stayed original with the opposed briggs twin cylinder 16 horse new clutch ,throw out bearring decals and fresh powder coat now I'm just waiting on the mower deck and snow plow to get back from the booth. I just work out the bugs and finished. But here's where my last 3 months have got me. I took everything down to bare metal and this is where I'm at let me know if it's good.

Yeah! What Sam says, "POTW", looks great.
|
Uh, yes. You did good!
Great job. Post some more pics...especially when the deck is complete. |
Look fantastic!
Powder coat was a home brew recipe or a commercial color you purchase from a place like Prismatic Powders or simply Eastwood? Did you apply the product yourself or pay to get it done? |
That is a very sharp looking 582!!! Time well spent.

POTW right there, send it in! :beerchug:

I hope the powder coat sticks better than it did on the 1862 that I had.
|
Nice! I agree, send it in for Picture Of The Week, guidelines and where to E-mail it here:

Yeah that looks great. Something about those red 82s and that picture of yours makes me want to have one. X3 on the longevity of the powder coating although I think it likes everything else where the prep work is what makes or breaks it
|
Looks fantastic! Was this a mechanical rebuild also? Will this be a user or trailer queen?
|
Nice and shiny, you did a great job.
|
Looks great!
|
Very nice:beerchug:
Need some close up, detail pictures:ThumbsUp: |
i had the powder coat done professionally by a family friend who has his own business. As for the mechanical I purchased a 16 hp briggs and had it gone over by a small engine guy. Mall I needed to do was spark plugs and a new magneto. I have to adjust the carb still but it runs great no smoke even at start up. I put a new clutch disc and throw out bearring in. Also replaced all of the grease fittings. As for electrical work there was nothing it needed. I will get some close up pictures as soon as I get a chance. I took it down to bare metal and used IH red paint on the frame and rear end. And powder coated everything else.

Some like powder cote but for me I'll stick to regular paint.
I find that things the companies shove down your gullet ain't all that great. Kinda like reverse mortgagees. |
So the hood and fenders are powdercoated?
