Restorations past.
Here are some restorations from the past 8 yrs. Each tractor is stripped down to the bare frame and everything documented and brought back to manufacture specs . Within logical parameters. The Wheel Horse lawn ranger had a tree growing through it, no engine and a bridge rectifier charging system. But in the end it went to a museum. The 73 series was my son's senior project. The 105 was just a sweet piece to do. The Deere was a nightmare with all the belts. Never again.

Oh yeah, these restorations are so time consuming, that I might do the 127 then I'm done. No more. This time I mean it.

EagleKeeper,
Do you consider those restorations, or refurbs? I know you posted on this topic a while back. Just curious since there are several things that, by your previous definition, would keep these tractors from being labeled "Restored". |
Mechanically they are restored. All new engine rings, valves, pistons, rods, carbs rebuilt or replaced. All new bearings, pulleys, mower deck spindles. Visually as best as could be done at the time. Some seats not available nor decal kits ect...
The Deere I had no interest in restoring. It was an experiment not to be repeated. The Lawn Ranger, very few parts available. It took a year to find a set of gears for the gear drive mower deck. Impossible to find decals and it was before the computer age. Are they Concours d'Elegance ??? No. |
Man , I think they all look great! Thanks for posting the pics.
Awesome job`s Eagle Keeper |
Thanks Doc !! :Bowdown2: And this is a refurbished C8 Horikawa MR Patrol. With box, worth about a whole gaggle of restored tractors . Being guarded by Miss Brains and Mr Brawn ! Meg and Ike .

Mark,
Is the four top pictures the same tractor??(the wheel horse)...Very nice. Im with Doc they all look great. Did you spray bomb them or spray gun them? You have to have a ton of hours in them.Im not entirly productive with all my time but just in the two i have quite a few hours and there aint hardly a thing done!!I will be more productive as time goes by as I will have the experience and the supplys/tools!! Great job thanks, Jason |
the robot toy means nothing to me/im not farmiliar, but you look like you have two great protecters there!
I love labs and have always wanted a chocalate, but ended up with a mix and a boxer!! Jason |
Jayson, Yes they are all the same Wheel Horse. I friend of mine had a Ranger years ago. As I'm loading up for a tractor pull, Greg says. I'm taking the Lawn Ranger to the tractor pull ! No Your not ! Yes I ham, help me lift it into the back of the station wagon. He was dead serious. So we get they for weigh-in and I help Greg lift it out . The guys are all just rolling on the ground. So it comes time for Greg to pull, He revs it up pops the clutch and it pops a wheelie and just dies. Now nobody can stand up. Even the commentator has to stop. So I had a 351 Windsor Head in the back of the Comanche. We wire it to the front of the tractor and off he heads for round two. Revs it up ,pops the clutch, Pos a smaller wheelie . The tractor slams back down , the head falls of the front. The tractor runs over the head and dies. The bleacher are roaring. Greg was given a special trophy for the shortest pull ever. 5.75 inches. To this day he displays that trophy with pride and I think that day resulted in the implementation of safety regulations and Wheelie bars. :biggrin2.gif:
All were painted with a gun and appropriate paint. However I have to admit. Both the Wheel Horse and Cub red paints are too light in color. I add a little black to give them a deeper hue ! The Labs are great. Neither have been collared except to take them to the vet. Both will not leave the yard, no matter what. Except they go everywhere with me and Ike fishes with me. I mean he stands chest deep in trout streams for hours on end. Just watching the end of the rod. Big Ike is ten yrs old 130 lbs. I bought him from an Amish man at a tractor auction for 20 bucks. Meg is a full bred and was given to us when she was 12 weeks old. She was the runt of the litter and weighs in at 65 lbs, but her strength and muscle tone is unreal. She is the most powerful dog for her size I have ever had. I have had a lot of breeds. Akita,Timber Wolf, Saluki and Malamute. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...7/IMG_2386.jpg http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c1.../ikemeg007.jpg |
