Identification help?
 

I'm going to meet the old guy who owns this Cub this coming Sunday. From what I can tell it is not a model 71.. so I believe he's meaning the year 1971. There are no stickers that can be seen in the pic but Im confident it's a 100's something. The oblong gas tank is throwing me off a bit though.

Any help from you gurus?

looks to me like its a 1250....it a quiet line judging by the grill, and dash setup. its not a 1450 or 1650 judging by the manual lift lever....so my guess is a hacked up 1250 cub cadet.

What is up with that tunnel cover?!

I agree with Shaner, probably what is left of a 1250, with the hard to find low profile plywood tunnel cover:biggrin2:

Thanks! What makes you say hacked up? If it is a 1250 then all I really notice is missing side panels.

It took me a minutes to figure out where the tunnel cover was. It just looked dirty to me, and not wood grain. Yuk I hope it's not plywood.

Does it look like the generator is backwards to anyone else or is it just me?

Correct muffler/ shrouds are gone, PTO looks to be gone, side panels ,tunnel cover and gas tank heat shield are gone, wrong gas tank. That's just what I see, could still have the typical QL issues like worn out motor mounts and oil pan. If you get it really cheap it's still worth having, but it needs a lot of work.

Edit: Seeing the pic you just posted it has the wrong engine altogether, it should a ring gear starter. The frame has been cut to fit it in there, looks like a hack job.

Hmmm.. the guy is asking $225. I figured I could talk down to $200 even. But if it's a 1250 and if it's really missing all that then yeah I don;t want to have to put in another couple hundred.

Looks like a 129 to me.

Roland, I almost said the same thing, until I saw the hydro control on the right side of the dash.

Looks like it's been painted over in the left side frame shot
Get the #'s if possible. If it is/was a QL the tag should be on the frame below the tower.

Not worth much in MHO

The pics do suck.. I'll put eyes on it sunday and see. But the general consensus here is that it's a 1250 with missing parts. I tried googling and came up very short, does anyone have or know of good 1250 pics showing what the engine and bay should look like? I couldnt find much with a hood open.

the little blue cushman looks good next to the 1250,wonder if he wants to sell that for 225.00

in its present state, i wouldn't give more than $50 for it. shes pretty well a parts machine in my opinion.

I think I like the little scooter next to it better.

Definitely has a QL grill shell and dash.

May or may not have a QL engine, could the hole in the blower housing have a patch where it is supposed to blow into the air cleaner?

It may be missing the correct throttle/choke linkage attachment points.

Someone has put a S/G on it and it appears to be belted to the pulley on the flywheel side of the engine.

Unless that engine runs REALLY well and does not smoke at all, I think I would leave it set where it is, might not even bother to go look at it.

Just to be sure.. is this frankenstein worth a 30 minute drive to look at?
