cig lighter

I just acquired a 105 and am starting to tear it down to build back up, the dash is broke(this is my first cub) the dash has a cigarette lighter, i am looking at one on ebay and it dosent look like it has one , so were only some of them equipped with lighters, or was this added later, if so ,should I look for one with a lighter hole, or just buy what I can find , and drill a hole out for the lighter, or just omit it !

As far as I know, the Cigarette Lighter was strictly an option and a very rare one at that.

I looked at a 149 today that had a cig lighter.

My 124 has the factory lighter. It was always a joke between my friends and I (we all smoke) that a cigarette lighter is a definite plus for anything.
I had an old yardman, many years ago that had one.....when I'd point it out, everyone would bust out laughing and say "Those were the days when they knew how to build things".

I don't even smoke and I want one! Anyone got pictures of one? I'm looking for one for my 122.

Thanks!

1250

my cub 1250 has one and my cub 126 has the hole for one

william1041200 03-10-2011 06:28 PM

my 104 has the hole with a chromed cap in it. I figured that was the factory configuration, and installing the lighter unit was a dealer installed option. :bigthink:

I have a working one in my 149....as bad as I hate too I would trade it straight up for a rear tiller...LOL.

I have one on the 109, sure would like a pic to see if it's factory or someone added or replaced it later. Mine is locked up and I haven't tried to clean it yet. Any tips so I don't mess it up?

eastonct124 04-21-2011 10:49 PM

The Beast (124) has a factory lighter....no lighter though. I've been meaning to put a new lighter assembly in it's place since I bought it.
I know it's original because the dash trim panel says "lighter" next to it. :)

I wondered what that chrome plug was for on my 102 dash, now I know. Thanks for the information.

I was in a junked out ford truck (not sure of the year, late 80's to early 90's) and happened to notice the lighter, exactly the same as the one in my 149, same one in Captmax's pic. I got it to use, the original one in my 149 is very stiff to operate and some rust on it, no doubt from stints setting outside.

Go to a local pick and pull, the lighter out of an 1988 Ford 1/2 ton pickup has the exact same lighter as the one in the cubs. Get the socket while your at it, once mounted in the dash you can't see if it differs from the original or not, no one will ever know the difference!

AND, I doubt they even charge you for a lighter!

The 108 I picked up this Saturday has a cigarette lighter. It works, and the element is so clean I think it was never used.

I did not realize they were rare options

machinehead323 04-18-2012 10:15 AM

was the cig lighter ever an option on a 1650? i dont smoke but a 12 volt outlet comes in handy. if it was an option where would it go? any pics?

ole 147 06-20-2012 12:54 PM

the lighter was down left of light knob.

my 1450 has a lighter good for plugging in my electric socks for cold weather running :coffee:
or for plug in for 12 volt coffee pot.
:beer2: or small elect portable cooler.
