I work for the VA, I order the groceries for the Kitchen at a VA Hospital.
At home I grow Giant Pumpkins and hold the current Oklahoma State Record at 685 lbs. At fact I am getting the patch ready this weekend, I have it tilled once but I need to till it again. I also raise a small flock of Chickens. |
I work for the Dept Of Transportation in Pennsylvania doing this in the winter on I-80...
http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2235Medium.jpg In the summer I run dump truck, roller and skid steer as well as labor while fixing roads, ditches etc. I like to drag race, but last year,I was so busy building a new garage, I didn't have any time for the racing.. My garage... http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2895Medium.jpg racecar... http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...s/100_2975.jpg I also do all the work on my Cub as well as my mom's,sons and mother in laws, also seem to be the go to guy on my one neighbor who has no idea of what a mower does but mow grass. She can't help it though... http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/a...2890Medium.jpg |
I drive a Chevy SIlverado pickup all over the midwest, and occasionally the rest of the US as a pilot car operator. I am the guy with the big pole attached to my front bumper measuring bridges, overhanging trees, and wires that goes ahead of the big loads. Occasionally I get to steer the back of 13 axle rigs with a remote from behind the load so we can get around some of the tight corners and close signs road engineers like to put out there to make our life more fun. I am also the dude who cuts folks off when they try to pass us in a dangerous spot, like when we are approaching a narrow bridge or we have oncoming traffic. I get told I am number one on occasion.
THe best part of it is I get to read Craigslist wherever we go and once in a while I find some neat stuff out there. The bad part is I'm not home enough to really work on the Cubs as much as I want to. in my spare time I take care of a few rental houses my bro owns here in TX, and the Cubs come in handy for that. |
This is some of the stuff I work on for the last 35+ yrs.....

I am a Alberta farm kid, I help my dad work on all our machinery, as well as put the crop in the ground and harvest it. I also work on our farm as a cattleman. I am in 4-H, and have been doing 4 projects a year since I was 9. I now own a small business doing small engine repair, as well as lawn and garden tractor parts and service. Oh, and I still manage to go to school
|
I retired from the Army in '06, and now work for a fraud investigations firm.
|
As little as possible these days.
Home builder. Scott |
I have worked for the last 15 years as a service adviser at a large Ford Lincoln Mercury dealer ship. I had worked as an automotive installer, service adviser and assistant automotive manager at Sears for 24+ years. I grew up in southern Illinois on a farm and farmed until got out of college. Now I am thinking of retiring the first of the year and enjoying working on lawn equipment and playing with the cub.
|
I work for the county where I live . I ve been doing this for fifteen years. I do maintenance on the roads from plowing them in the winter, mowing the ditches in the summer, grading shoulders and everything else you can think about.
|
My full time job for the last 5 years has been manufacturing different types of explosives for the military and some small commercial stuff. 95% though is strictly military. on my off time i am a lieutenant at my local fd and work on the cub when i can.
|
These days, I don't have an idea about what I'm doing.
Actually, I'm a panel maker....highend restorations on collectible autos. I specialize in french and Italian cars.....buggatti, Delahaye, ferrari....I haven't touched a car worth less than 7 figures in ages. |
Currently I am installing for DirecTV. In my spare time, I fix computers. In the past 5 years, I have built Whirlpool refrigerators, Amana commercial microwaves, and did technical support for TaxACT.
|
I work at a civil engineering company as a CAD technician. I'm also going to school part time to get my engineering degree.

I ran CNC Ram Edm's and Wire's in the Tool trade for almost 20 years. Been layed off since Feb of 09. I have been enjoying the time off and spending every possible minute with my,now 18 month old daughter. I am currently trying to decide what I want to do for a new career, so I can go back to school.
Other than that, building custom harleys, playing in the deep mud on big modified 4x4 4-wheelers, and just putsing around on the retired farm. JOE |
Well I am a machinist by trade (manual lathes and mills - no CNC for me!). I worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corp till 2001 when they shut down the Lackawanna(NY) plant. Worked for Norfolk Southern RR for a while. Was a locomotive engineer on a shortline railroad for a few years before I hired on at Bethlehem. I have been temporarily laid off since November 09 from a laser cutting facility but it has worked out real well. I got to coach my 3 kids in ice hockey this past winter.:beerchug: Like jbollis I too am currently trying to figure out a new career path. It seems the need for machinists in the Western NY area is drying up. All in all, life is good!:beerchug:

I work for a General Contractor in the DC area, been with this company 7 years now. I am also in training for the Sheriffs reserve program.
I love my PS3 and big tv. Growing up I did a bunch of hunting, fishing and crabbing.... Now I do not have the places to go hunting, time to go fishing, and I sold my crab boat. I've built up a few trucks for four wheeling, a few old cars 71 Chevelle that I sold and an old 55 Plymouth. Recently Married, 6 months friday. Bought my first house last year and moved from Southern MD to WV. Still new to the area and learning my way around. I hoping to find some hiking trails and camping places. :beerchug: |
I also like to garden. I've got plans to start raising chickens for meat and eggs.nothing more I'd rather be doing!

:bigthink:
Lets see...been a dispatcher for a trucking company in Eastern Ontario that runs long haul into Eastern USA with FTL & LTL weekly. We run 18 trucks in the USA, so I am responsible for getting them home to Ontario/Quebec each day. This has been my agrivating job for the last 10-1/2 years. Can't complain, it takes me 3 minutes to get to work ... IF I stop for the two stop signs! Pretty good money so close to home. If I could find a better job that paid the same - I'd be gone in a heart beat! I am a furniture maker by trade, been doing that since I was 14...learnt it from my father...wish I could make a living doing this. Talk about relaxing compared to being on the phone for 10 hours a day! Would love to walk across my lawn to go to work making furniture. Into ATVing, used to snowmobile a lot too, but don't get enough snow anymore to warrent the money spent to keep a sled around. Love to be outside taking care of my garden, flower beds and lawn. Enjoy cutting fire wood with no one around to bug me, just me, the dog, and a coffee on a frosty fall morning! New to Cubbing....bought my first one in October of 2009 and love it. Would love to grab a couple more but I don't think I am ready for a divorce just yet! Been married for almost 8 years now, two step kids, dog and a cat. FULL HOUSE! :biggrin2.gif: |
I'm a farm boy from MA. I live on a small farm and help with the equipment and raise dairy goats. I make maple syrup. I am a member of 4-H. I have my own woodshop and like making just about anything out of wood. I have a small buisness splitting and selling firewood. This helps pay for the tractors. I ride quads mostly on my farm and my grandpas wood lot. And collect cub cadets. And somehow manage to go to school and get good grades.

I work for an Excavating/General contractor.
I'm working on a large Mall re-development right now. Just about the only private job in the area. http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/attac...1&d=1271797909 I'm also a gearhead and have been into cars all my life. Manly a chevy guy but I've had some type of turbo Buick Grand National for almost the last 20 years now and just picked up an orig 33K mile 1964 Skylark last year. I took a break from the cars (money pits) and started collecting WW2 firearms. I think I'm burnt out on that now so I'll be getting my turbo car out and should be running this summer. It has sat for 5 years and the other one hasn't seen the road in over 10 years. :American Flag 1: .. |

I work on semi trucks as a mechanic for our family trucking co. I also have a 100 acre farm that I grow wheat, corn, and raise horses. In winter I do small handyman side jobs and redo old tractors as well as cubs. Probably why it takes me so long to finish everything I start lol, too many irons in fire. Here is a pic of the Allis Chambers 7060 my brother and I just finished 2 days ago. Tthis is what it looked like before we started, haven't got a pic of it finished but will try to upload it tomorrow

what I do
Hi , I work for a convience store chain named Sheetz , I work on the gas pumps , I also fly RC airplanes and like to camp ,( but the wife calls it towing a house with ya ). Love to garden and play with the Cubs . Yard work at my house is a full contact sport, allways getting attacked by a tree , bush or animal that is trying to get in my garden.
|
I started out drafting/designing in-line scales for the railroad. Played the role reversal with my wife and wound up raising my 2 kids for the past 21 yrs. Fishing is my blood, along with tinkering in the garage. I only have 1 Cub. And it seems to have been the oddball that IH built. So I read as much as I can on this site to see what her brothers and sisters have become. She's very lonely and would love to hear from her siblings. (just kidding) Always room for levity. Not much else to do in suburbia. I do home remodeling on the side when it's available. So there's time in garage but not much to do.:bigthink:

I've worked in some form of automotive related field for the past several years. Some positions more fun and more lucrative than others. I've worked for a turbocharger manufacturer called Precision Turbo, managed an automotive salvage yard and currently work for a web based company that specializes in European auto parts.
With the cost of living these days, I'm always looking for ways to supplement my income. Side work like auto repairs and metal scrapping is pretty much my only means of getting any "play" money these days. |
I work at a small foundry call Alabama Copper and Bronze. I'm a core-maker. I make the waterways in tyheres and Bosch plates that go in blast furnaces. I also make cores for countless other things. On my spare time i like to garden, make wine, fish, and restore old cars mainly.

very cool job Jarkin! Backyard metal casting is actually a hobby of mine, I play with the easy to melt stuff like aluminum. :beerchug:
|
I work in a fab shop making steel buildings. The short version... i'm a welder.
|
I'll post mine since I'm waaaay off the grid compared to everyone else. :) I'm technically an Certified Information Systems Auditor. I am a sub contractor for 5 or 6 smaller accounting firms and do their IT audits for mostly financial institutions. Security testing, network integrity checks, sarbanes oxley, GLBA kind of stuff... I'm also a network engineer doing network design and implementation.
Luckily for me my dad is a HVAC foreman, brick mason, master electrician and has instilled a lot of his knowledge in me. My grandfather was a finish carpenter for 35+ years so I know a good deal about that too. I'm blessed to know enough and have been given enough knowledge that I've never had to get any help around the house! There's a bunch of hobbies I like to do, but a 5 year old and 20 month old take up most of my time now!!! :biggrin2: |

I am hoping I won't have to find a job on the tool side ever again. I have close enough to 20 years in to call it 20 years. Mostly on the automotive connectors molding side of it ( Amp, Packard,T&B,Tyco,Intel ). Some Medical, some Aero Space, Military, you know the drill. I really enjoy doing what I did (programing/running/designing/making tooling for CNC Rams and Wires). I just don't like doing it for the people (greedy owners) I have to it for anymore. I do miss the access to all the machines though. My father has a small 1 man shop so he has most everything I need to use, when he isn't. Quote:

Started out working in a auto parts store Dad started, opened a shop in the back till He closed that when I was 22. Worked at three different Nissan dealers and one Infinity dealer as a master Tech till 96. Played Mr Mom for a year with My first girl, bought a skid steer and started working for Myself. Have a rubber track skid steer, D3C, 310D tandem axle LTL 9000 dump with a 60 Series detroit. Several attachments for skid steer and the related stuff to finish yards with. Got into the cubs when things slowed down I had time to mow my own yard and the MILs instead of paying a friend to. Couldn't/wouldn't spend the money it took for a good Z turn so a cub was the only choice. Have two and looking all the time. Watch my girls play tennis and I also enjoy cutting wood for the house, put in a wood burning furnice last Dec. I seem to wait till it gets above 85* before I do any cutting though, guess it takes the fun out of it if it gets too cool!! Started a garden this year, first one in several years. I do play golf about once a year, have gone to Brazil the last three years on mission trips. Like to snow ski, but don't have the cash any more for that. Raced Motocross for several years in my 20s and 30s, but no time or cash for that one either. Sorry so long. Randi
