Narrow Frame Gas Line

Hi all,
Should all NF have a brass fuel line with a bowl? Only my 105 does and I guarentee the other ones that have a rubber hose are not factory.
So if the gas tank was attached to the engine it should have brass line?

Thanks

J-Mech 04-01-2015 02:58 PM

Pretty sure "factory" is steel, not brass.

Nothing wrong with using rubber.

Thanks for the quick answer. I'm restoring these so just trying to get what should be on there

J-Mech 04-01-2015 03:12 PM

If it's a restoration, I completely understand wanting "OEM". Check with Lew, but like I said, pretty sure OEM was steel. :beerchug:

only the original had copper fuel line if I recall correctly. the 70 on up all had steel fuel lines until the wide frames.

Thanks all for the answers.

My 100 and 70 has a steel line and brass fittings.

Well share them this way buddy because last time I got them from you they were almost No Lewnger Available so you said.

I'm assuming those little rubber guys I'm talking about are able to be sourced somewhere just never took the time to find out

drglinski 04-01-2015 07:46 PM

Mine should be metal. It's rubber. Works great.

darkminion_17 04-01-2015 09:03 PM

Alvy,
the lines are easy to make, you prolly have the fittings, all you need are the bushings, which are still available.

Where can I get the bushings Lew? I've looked for them in the past and couldn't come up with any so I went with compression fittings which worked well also.

darkminion_17 04-02-2015 09:11 AM

You can find them here.

Those rubber bushings are still available from IH/CCC.

I get mine from my diesel supplier. I buy them in packs of 10. Much cheaper that way, and cheaper than CCC. I'll look and see if I can get some #'s for you. Maybe McMaster offers them too...... :bigthink:

I think I pay about $10 for a ten pack....

bill682 04-02-2015 09:39 AM

You can get them through a Navastar dealer for around .55 cents. 144526H1

Thanks guys!!

mattoney 04-03-2015 09:20 AM

That's good to know. The bushings on mine wore out and the CC dealer by me told me that was all obsolete and NLA so I switched over to a rubber line. I liked the steel so much better. I'll have to order some of these bushings and get that put back the way it was.

Are you using Steel brake line from the auto parts store and then brass fittings to match? I'd like to upgrade my 107 too.

Thanks!
