1200 trouble
 

Hi Guy's Its 10 degrees and snow of 12 " on top of 15" in Ct.
The 1200 is slipping at the disc . Any possible help would be appreciated as its too cold to go out and ponder.
Third will slip fully while R ,2 and 1 are ok.
New disc in may. springs seemed ok at the time. Throw brng also.
Seemed to get better if heated up you know. Slippin till moves, Getting angry at the performance Its not the old girls fault I think I must have missed something.:bigthink:

About the only thing that can be done is resurface the pressure plates and put a new disk in.

Not much else you can do. As a side note, Mark Hellrung surfaces the plates for a great price. You can find his link up at the sponsor section.

Did you have the clutch pressure plates resurface when you installed the new clutch disc?

How did the driveshaft look where the throw out bearing goes?

1. make sure your clutch adjustment allows the clutch to fully engage. Underneath there is an adjustment rod with a nut that goes through the clutch actuator arm. Make sure it's loose when the clutch is engaged. If this nut is tightened, it takes up slack in the clutch/brake pedal, and if turned too tight, it will prevent the clutch from fulling engaging.

2. Assuming you are not going to dis-assemble and fix in the middle of a blizzard (and you don't have any other choice) I'd try to get the clutch to engage better. First, I'd clean it with a can of de-icer or carb and choke cleaner, to make sure there is no oil or grease on the disk. That should remove any ice as well, as any water that freezes on the disk will not help.

Not much else you can do, without taking it apart. Might try spraying with belt dressing? might make the disk stickier...or really gum up the works. Don't know.

I did not surface the plates they looked ok but maybe need the attend to. adjustment is ok

I wonder if your clutch pressure spring has broken? I had one where a couple coils broke off that had to be replaced.

I bet the driveshaft is worn and the T/O bearing is catching on it. Could also be that the groove in the p-plate has a spot worn enough for them to catch on.

Honestly, your just going to have to take it apart and figure it out. We can all guess, but without seeing the components, it's just guessing.

So you are pushing snow in 3rd gear?? If it's working fine in 2nd and first I'd try to get by until fairer weather. I never pushed snow in 3rd with my 1200, seems to high of a gear to me. Yes it shouldn't slip, something's wrong but I'd run in a lower gear for now , after you clean the pressure plate and disc.

Give it a good ole adjustment first and go from there.

There is one of your problems. You will need to replace the clutch disc when you take it apart to have the clutch plates turned.

J-Mech and myself made comments about the driveshaft having wear in the throw out bearing goes. That will cause the problem you are having. Odds are the driveshaft will need replace.

Thanks all. I think the plates not surfaced and possibly a coil short on spring or just weak. Seems to be my defect.
When I got her she was near dead. I have a simp. 3410 that has a blade also , it moves houses, won 1st pl at pulls with 2100 lbs @ 30 inches so I'm ok for pushing heavy snow . I may put the snow blade on the 129 next year. 1650 has a 42 thrower but eats belts , bad alignment of pulleys.

And yes 3rd to really toss the white stuff off the side. 1st and 2 around sensitive areas.

Just for the record the snow thrower pully is adjustable..
