I've torn down the 1650 and pulled it out yesterday and pressure washed it. Today I did it again after I saw all the places I missed

When I pulled it out to where it was yesterday, I found this lying on the ground:

Any ideas?

pressure plate, DRIVE DISC, drive plate. its a drive disc. hope i've been some help.

One of two things happened-

That may be a disk from another tractor that got thrown on there.

or

That 1650 had a rare drive shaft disconnect, basicly a hydro with a clutch. I've seen one in person and they came factory from what the owner told me.

I resend my statement, that is not a clutch disc/plate. Don't know what it is.

How big is that thing?

Not that I think I know what it is, just wondering if it's 2" in diameter or 6"...

What is it made from is another good question. Steel rules out a clutch disc but..... Also, like YoSam says, dimensions would help. Clean it up, get some measurements, and post it again and maybe it will help.

My .02 worth.....Wayne

Could be, but I don't think they have holes in them like that.

Not to sound rude.....but how dirty was it if you found this disk all of a sudden afterwards? Did small animals live in it before washing??? Could you even see under the sheet metal and engine or tranny?:bigthink:

nix1650 03-29-2010 08:49 PM

Whatever it is I dont think it goes in a 1650.:HeadScratch:

Fair question: FILTHY

It is 2 1/2" OD and 1 5/8" ID

JayBrd 03-29-2010 10:03 PM

You sure that is not a carb spacer of some kind?

It's possible that it fell off the air cleaner when I took it off. I have never noticed it before on the back of the AC, but I don't look at it very much except to make sure the gasket's ok.

thenrie 03-29-2010 10:49 PM

I'm thinking it goes on the back of the air cleaner housing, but I'm not sure. I've got my 1650 apart, so I'll look tomorrow and see if I can help you out.

Matt G. 03-29-2010 10:55 PM

If that's the piece I'm thinking of, it goes over the inner part of the air cleaner housing that's bolted to the carb. It's about the right size. The bolts go through it, the rear air cleaner plate, and into the carb body.

nix1650 03-29-2010 11:35 PM

I think Matt is right.

Lmercer 03-31-2010 09:03 AM

Mystery Solved

It's the same size as the gasket for the air cleaner to the carb. It just evidently hasn't been on there for quite some time as it is filthy on both sides :bash:

bridgewatertek 03-31-2010 09:39 AM

You guys are right, that is the gasket that goes between the carb and air cleaner. I just took mine off last night, saw this pic and knew exactly what it was.
