When Pigs Fly,,,,,, A Cub Cadet Will Get A Wing!!

I have seen lots of attachments be displayed for the Cub Cadet, but, I have never seen a wing!!
Some people say a Cub Cadet will have a wing "when pigs fly!!"

I got tired of snow spillage when pushing snow with the blade, so, it got a wing.

I asked about the wing and got lots of ideas.

Then I went out to the shed and whipped it up!!

Now, if it would just snow, so I could try it out!! :bigthink:

That looks like it should work great! I've thought about doing this on my blade since I switched to a 42" blade instead of my 54" blade.

This blade was 48", now it is 54" wide, if I add a second wing, it will be 60" wide,, :bigthink:

Is 60" too much for a 10HP gear drive??

Two wings on a 54" would result in a 66" wide blade, I would have to get the Super out from under the tarp!! :biggrin2:

bocephus1991 12-11-2014 10:18 PM

Put some weight on her and it dig! Lol the 54" I had on my 1200 was good if you added about 300lbs and didn't have wet snow. I just push on concrete though too, pushing uphill is a booger esp when the 54" blade was on. Was nice though two passes and the driveway was done! That big blade looks tough on the Cubs too, I may have to blade up both tractors! Then I'll have my choice to push snow!

Maybe you should just use a 54 inch plow instead of using rubber wings.:biggrin2:

Width does not matter, if the blade is less than the full width of the area being plowed, the forward portion of the blade spills.

Then, you gotta go back and clean it up.

Where did you dig up the used conveyor belt?

It probably came from the neighborhood cement plant,,,,:bigthink:

I need to dig up some used belt, I've used up my stash from the quarry days.

That should work well. I'm sure you'll post pics of it in action. Hope you don't get to use it for oh say 20 years. :biggrin2: :beerchug:

There are a couple of belt companies in Roanoke that sell used belt,,,,

There was a 200 foot piece on CL not long ago,
if I had known you wanted some, I would have split it with you!! :bigthink:

jimbob200521 12-12-2014 09:11 AM

I like the simplicity of it, just bolt the darn thing on! No complicated mount, brace, etc. Now all we need is some snow and pics of how she does! Who knows, you may have started something here :beerchug:

I may get to use it before the snow comes,,,,,, :bigthink:

When I have tried to push LARGE amounts of leaves, the leaves just spill around the end of the blade.

The wing may help in moving the leaves,,,,

Not to derail the thread, buutt do you just lower the blade and push until they pile up or do you sweep them, dump the piles, then push the piles? :bigthink:

PGHsteelworker 12-12-2014 10:34 AM

I think you need the smallest blade you can put on that machine since you are always looking for more seat time. Everyone on here knows that you love to use your equipment. I know it doesn't bother me to take a few extra passes to make it look perfect.

The wind makes the piles, I just move them to the woods,,,

As far as seat time, I am becoming a fair weather seat time kind of guy,,,,,
when the wind is howling, snow blowing, etc,,,,,, I am ready to go inside!! :biggrin2:

good job cad plans... it looks store bought
those certain snows the snow just seems to walk away from the blade are frustrating.
someone needs to produce wings maybe out of poly propelene ...I bet he would have enough buyers

That's what I did, but never grabbed the camera.:bash2:

I think most wing makers use steel because of the customers.

"I think I will just push a couple stumps, the wings do not have to come off,,,"

My belting wing will come off for moving anything other than snow,,,

That what I want to do next year. If I take a load of swept leaves to the burn pile every time I get a load, I spend more time making a path from front to back then I do sweeping :biggrin2:

Could use a old mud flap off a semi or dump truck to make a wing, or the sidewall of a tire cut out.

Somewhere, someone mentioned a piece cut out of a plastic 55 gallon drum,,,,
the bottom of those drums are T H I C K !!

I would have tried that. It would have been easier to work with than 3/4" thick belting.

The tire idea is a good one, too!! :Bowdown2:

The mudflap, well, it might be too "flappy"!! :biggrin2:

This was my first mental image. Probably because the shop has been filled with PennDOT trucks the last two weeks.

finsruskw 12-13-2014 02:20 PM

And the firm I drive for part time, Henderson Mfg, we just finished delivery of 40 big Freightliner tandem units to the Indiana DOT a few weeks ago.

bocephus1991 12-13-2014 02:43 PM

The mudflap I was talking about was one of those heavy plastic one that are white in color. I have one laying around somewhere I used to lay on the gravel to kneel on to change tires with.
