Cub Cadet 70 key

I picked up a CC 70 today. The key is broken so i need to get another one. My question is, if i buy a original key off Ebay, do i want one just for a 70? Or, will any narrow frame key work?

Thank you

all the older cub keys are the same.

As all IH tractors.

I got the spare keys of all the IH tractors we used to own and I found the old spare to my 1200 that has the IH on it! That's the key in my 1211 now.

The key I have for my cub is a artic cat 370z key. It has a nice rubber grip and isn't so hard on your hands. Just a helper

If that's the case then your tractor doesn't have the original ignition switch in it.

This has always surprised me. Every key the same. My first thought is why even have a key, but I suppose it allows you to keep the kids off the tractor when you don't want them playing with it!

Most all the old tractor companies and equipment companies did the same thing. IH had their own, so did Deere, Case, AC, CAT, and so on. Never changed. The keys did, but the code didn't. You can still have one key for all your equipment. Like when Case and IH merged, they went to a key and stayed with it. I'm not sure if the old and new Magnums still use the same key, they might have changed code.

my 1450 key is a john deere key, or i can start it with a screw driver, or tool box key, or paper clip. its just a standard tractor key.

It's and original switch they just interchange as that if you have enough keyed equipment chances are you have a key that will fit. It's very generic

A 127 would have came with a IH ign switch. So should the OP's.

Should look like this:
Or could be round on the end, not necessarily oval.

A small flat head screw driver or a pocket knife will work in a pinch also.:biggrin2:

Cub cadet keys work in my 70 IH truck and vice-versa. The same was true for the 504 I used to have. Don't have to carry a bunch of keys.:biggrin2:

When I bought my 149 used from a local IH dealer, the key he gave me for it had a tag on it that said: "Lowboy/Cub Cadet"

Ih truck

That ih truck is gorgeous, I love those old birds. My dad had them growing up and when I turned 16 I got a 75, so much bondo in that thing it wasn't funny! Awesome truck though!

I can totally see the keys being the same for garden tractors and such by brand.. I get that.. what I don't get is that a 1/4 million dollar piece of equipment runs the same key as another by the same mfr. still.

I was out of my mind trying to find a key at work last month for our gradall 60. For some reason I just tried a key from another gradall and wham I was off to the races.... 250-2500$ equipment I can understand but not 1/4 million $ I'm sure I'm stretching that figure and maybe a lot but the point is the same....

Man nice International truck..

Your price is low actually! A new combine, heads and all costs over $500K.

Here is a machine for sale..... just the combine, no head. 91 hrs, and 1 season old. $325K.
