125 Makeover update final - Decals

Got the decals and put them on today (nice and warm). This was the last thing I had to do to finish (except the steering wheel center ring). I'm happy with the way it tuned out. I know it's going to be a great little machine for my purpose. Here it is, what I started with  and what I finished with. :)

Nice finishing touch to a nice restore.

Looks great!

DoubleO7 10-29-2014 08:10 AM

Wow
I had a flashback to 1969

Looks great.

The 125 was the bane of my existence back in 1969 when I was 10.

Excellent! I like the tires! Very well done!

darryljs 10-29-2014 09:36 AM

A great big :Thanks: to everybody for the nice comments. :beerchug: It was worth all the time, blood, sweat, tears and :Mad1: words that went into this.:biggrin2: Also, thanks to "Only Cub Cadets" and all the people who supply soooooo much information (yes, I :RTFM: also :biggrin2:), which makes it almost impossible to fail. I'm sure I'll get years of service from this Cub. Now it will be on to save another one, the Cub Cadet 105.

I think it looks great too. 125s are one of my favorites.

jmbsr1964 10-29-2014 09:49 PM

Do you have the center cap for the steering wheel? If not, I have one off a 125.

Alvy 10-29-2014 10:12 PM

I was thinking he needs one of Calvin's cub CNCd caps

Very nice work. But I have to ask , did you put the front axle on backwards on purpose or by accident? Great photos also. I love the rear lights in place of the reflectors. The headlights are very cool , how is the light pattern mounted that way?

Great 125! You did a wonderful job on the restoration! Where did you find the seat?
Regards,
Chris

Thank you. Your right, the front axle is backwards (oops :RedFace2:), I'll change it tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out. The light pattern isn't too bad, just a little narrower than if mounted horizontal. Depends on how you point them. They'll be just fine to plow snow. You also have to point them down a bit so it don't throw the beam out to far. I put the rear lights on for safety (can make them flash), when I run up and down the street to do some neighbors driveways at night.

Thanks Chris. The seat was on the 105 I have to restore. I'll have to find a seat for that one. The seat that was on the 125 is scrap :crap:.

hood bumpers

I just noticed the hood bumpers. Great idea, what did you use? I used a length of small chain, but I like your solution better. Do the rear lights flash only , and where did you get them ? Again , great job.

Thank you. Years ago I installed steel commercial doors and these are the rubber bumper buttons that are installed in the frame. I cut the points off the back and used Q-Bond to glue them in place. Yes only the rear lights flash right now. Eventually I want to put amber lights on the front to flash. I used a universal 3 position light switch (off, parking and headlights). The flashing component is on the parking side. The tail light side you have to split the bar between the terminals so you can flash the rear lights on parking and on steady with the switch pulled out. I had to modify a Flasher from a flashlight battery flasher because LEDs don't draw enough power for a car flasher to work.

By the way, I got the rear lights at Walmart. LED marker lights $6.

The rear tires are Carlisle 23 x 8.50 x 12. They were given with the tractor. Thank you and to everyone for the nice comments.

Sam Mac 11-01-2014 09:56 AM

Great looking tractor, you should submit that for POTW. :beerchug:
