Finally a deal was made..

After a lot of haggling and wrangling, I finally worked out the deal on the 782D. I negotiated an even trade for my 123. You gotta love the barter system. She's not pretty, but the seat is pretty good. I haven't done anything with it yet, but as previously stated, it does and I have heard it run.
I can not wait to get started on it. I hope Todd is up for a blue million questions... lol |
Congrats on the 782d, good trade.

^^ What he said. Congrats.

Sweet deal Earl! Time to pull the fender pan to pull and clean the tank. I use some of the wifey's Dawn dish soap, flush it good and let it dry. Change both tank bushings, replace the fuel shut off valve (951-0171) and run all new lines up front.
Then there are the filters, I use Wix. Air=46270 Pre-fuel=33972 Fuel=33389 Oil=51064 Hydro=51410 I run Rotella T 15W-40 Then the starter, gp upgrade. Glow Plugs = NGK Y-103V 2031 China Starter = http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Starter-...ht_5711wt_1362 ****this starter will work but it is not a gear reduction type I need to find, or maybe someone has, the water pump and and fan belt numbers. I also ordered some of the ball bushings the other week if you need a few. Good luck, take pics and keep us posted.:beerchug: |
Earl,
Congrats on the smoker! Sounds like a good trade to me. I'm more of a wide frame fan, though. Prolly take a little slack for that one. :biggrin2: |
Thanks guys, I wasn't quite ready to get this machine. About a million other projects and still not back to work; the guy i traded with wad kind of pushy, guess he needed a runner.
So I plan to have it my winter project behind the 126 completion. I have kinda fallen behind with all the physical issues as of late but I will be back on point sooner than later.. at least I hope... |

V30, I'm not sure. I was thinking that that was a reduction starter but after looking at it IDK. I put one on my 882 that was about the same price but now that company doesn't have any listed on Ebay under Cub Cadet. This is what it looked like with the original on the right.
Attachment 57763 I don't see a reduction starter listed under "Cub Cadet Diesel" on Ebay so I did a search on the part # Todd M. did on his original conversion (Kubota 37560-63011 or 37560-63012) and came up with this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Kubo...ht_2498wt_1362 I believe this is the correct starter we need on the D600's & D640's. Is that correct? Sorry, I didn't intend to give out the wrong information again.:bash2: |
yeah I looked at it because I may have to upgrade mine, and it didn't look right!
we'll see how it works after I get the alt upgrade done. |

Earl congrats on the smoker acquisition. I did the glow plug upgrade on the 1572 using a starter solonoid and the 12 volt plugs . The old gal fires right off. Maybe when the original starter takes a dump I will think about upgrading the starter.
|
Thanks guys, I have yet to start on this one. I still haven't finished the 126, I am genuinely hoping to get to it in the next week or two. Once I get it finished I'll hop on the 782d..maybe. I was kind of thinking to do some mods to the 125 so I could rob the hydraulic pump of it for the 126.. fun stuff..

Unless your starter doesn't work at all...... I wouldn't buy one until you know the motor is good. No reason to spend the cash just yet unless your starter is bad.

You suck, you picked up both of them and your concerned about a possible broken tranny mount? That is a $130.00 fix. I give up. :biggrin2: :beerchug:

1572 with 3pt and part rear pto, broken rear parts=$1800 Tiller=$700-$1000 Blower=$400 Haban blade=$400 Haban deck=$300 IH deck=$100 Back blade=$200 (don't know what manufacturer, etc.) Prices are an average guess, so total roughly $5900? Of course, this would be separating things out and selling separately so I think he did good! :beerchug: Nice trailer BTW! Back on topic, sorry OP. |
Good luck On you Tractor Earl

Earl, you should be able to hear the electric fuel pump running. If you don't it's trash.
I have not tried one of these yet but for less than $30 it's worth a try. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kubota-Cub-C...45c93b&vxp=mtr The 782D's have 2 fuel pumps for some reason, one electric and the other mechanical. They changed that on the later models and did away with the mechanical pump. To bleed the fuel system on these you need to loosen a nut up near where the fuel line comes into the injector pump. Turn the key on and let the electric pump run until you get good flow out of the bleeder. Sounds like your starter is shot. That is what one of mine would do, I would have to hit the key 5 or so times before it would kick in. Another thing you want to check if is the bearings in your cooling fan. I had 2 machines that they were bad in and had to replace the bearings. Good luck but we need some pics of work in progress!:beerchug: |
Earl,
Todd's right. When you preheat, you'll hear the pump run. There are different brands out there. Of the five diesels I have, I believe three of them have different brand pumps on them. If you drop a fuel line in the can, the fuel pump should pull the fuel without any problem. Just make sure the line is down and submerged in the fuel and not floating or sucking air. Good luck and keep us posted. Under edit: My 782D only has the electric fuel pump, no mechanical one. Todd, I think we were chatting about this before. You have an 882 with both fuel pumps to right? Wonder if my 782D is later and they stopped putting on the mechanical ones later in the production run, dunno. |
Update.....:
Well I spent the evening working on the 782D. I've learned a f ew things as I went a long, so now I know when I find another smoker. I installed the new gear reduction starter, new fuel pump, glow plugs and a good battery. I primed the system and finally the dragon started breathing.. it ran for about 30 seconds then shut down. Fired it back up, working the throttle this time and ran it for a couple mins, not to long as I am unsure of the cooling system. I'll be flushing the radiator and replacing the water pump I'm the near future. What I've learned is the fuel kicks back to the tank via a 5/16" return line, so pumping from a can wastes a ton of fuel. I've dumped the tank and will run new lines when I get paint done on the old girl. If I get in in time tomorrow, I'm pulling the engine and cleaning the machine for said paint. I'm not dipping this one and hopefully I'll have it sprayed by the end of this week. Gaskets, Filters, fresh oil and so forth are next plus new wiring. Then a cat 0 3 point from xtreme. pics will come soon.
|
Glad you got it running. Pull the fuel tank off and give it a good cleaning. I used dish soap and flush it good with water. Replace the tank bungs and fuel shut off valve and you won't have to worry about it again.
