Loader quick attach

4 Attachment(s)
having a loader has come in handy more times than i can count. The bucket is great for around the house. About 3 years ago i made a snow plow for the kwik way loader, then few months ago i made a set of forks. so now i have 3 attachments for the loader. it started to get real annoying having to try and line up 4 pins from one attachment to another. Since i had such good luck building the quick attach backhoe i decided i was going to build a quick attachment loader frame. One half of the idea came from the universal skid steer quick attach. The other i got from the way John Deere makes their quick attach loader. Takes me 30 seconds to put on or take off the attachment. Here are a few pictures of the forks with my quick attach hooked up...

Next I will be modifying my bucket for the quick attach setup.

I like it. How does the bottom attach?

bocephus1991 08-16-2014 05:27 PM

the bottom attaches with a 1-1/4'' stud on the attachment, that goes thru the mounting plate with a pin thru it locking it in place.

Understood. 2 pins and the attachment is on. Very cool. I'm soon to start putting my loader on, and this will be on the list of mods. Thanks.

I really want to try this with my loader. I just don't want to modify the original Johnson bucket. If I do go with the QA design it'd be just like yours. How Deere does theirs with the two pin style. Great job!!!

A loader is pretty much a "uni-tasker" without a quick attach, great work!! :beerchug:

i had a grin from ear to ear today wile i hooked up and unhooked the forks a dozen times in just a few minutes. im going to make a video of the setup tomorrow.

a new bucket might be in the works too. the rounded back of the KW bucket doesn't look like its going to work with out having the bucket be a good 6 inches further away from the mount. flat back and flat bottom is the direction ill be looking in.

Well done as always! :beerchug:

thanks guys, i appreciate the complements. now its time to figure out this bucket.

ken6x6 08-24-2014 08:47 PM

i got the bucket figured out today. took some thinking and lots of test fitting but its coming along. i have to re-adjust one of the pins. i think the heat from welding moved it out of position. o well, light the torch and try again. ill have pix tomorrow.

garth68 08-25-2014 09:52 PM

thats cool nice work

gmbadgley 08-26-2014 09:46 PM

Ken, You may want to figure a way to tie the two sides together. If one of the bucket cylinders blow (and I've seen it on Skid steers) you may end up twisting the other side as all of the load would be on one side.

I have seen Skid mounting plates twist even with both sides welded into one plate.

they are tied together, theres a 1'' round bar doing the job.

here are the pix of the bucket. i got the pin to fit better. i still might be be making a new bucket, im not really liking the way this one works with the QA.

Looks good! Would be awesome to see a vid of the backhoe doin work!!

that looks like it does on the bigger tractor loaders . I have one concern about your palet forks did you use two motor grader blade bitts for the forks if so you might want to think about using something else them are very brittle and could snap into when lifting something heavy would hate to see that happen and someone get hurt .once again not putting it down you done a great job building it

ken6x6 08-31-2014 07:57 PM

the forks are made from a cutting edge from a dozer. the edge is hardened steel. thats why i chose to use it. since normal forks are hardened too. i put the forks to the loaders max with no issues. thanks for the concern.

well i got tired of the old bucket not working the way i wanted it to. here's the new one i made. used 1/8'' plate and 1/4'' flat bar. took about 10 hours to complete. weighs 145lbs. what do you think.

bolivier 10-26-2014 07:47 PM

I like it! Looks like a skid steer bucket. You know how they are kind of deep? How was the other bucket that you modified not performing to your expectations?

ken6x6 10-26-2014 09:59 PM

i could not get the mounts high enough to make the bucket curl up when it was flat on the ground. you can see in the pics of the old bucket the cylinders were bottomed out.

Nice work as always Ken!:beerchug:

Wow that looks great. Great work.

Rescue11 11-02-2014 08:46 AM

Did a nice job. The bucket looks to be waaay more than that cub would handle (loaded). I like the whole project. Looks handy.

I'm late to this post obviously I know but I just saw it, I just wanted to say great job, also I'm wondering what your using for your fluid reservoir for your backhoe?
