New muffler
 

....finally. I purchased a Nelson global from an online site that offered a decent price; they had the muffler for sale but didn't have it in stock. They offered a refund, but said it would be in later and I could wait if I wanted to. I didn't need the muffler right away so I'd opted to wait. Almost two months later :angry: I get an email that said it was on its way.

It was important to me that it looked like an original one and fit the same way. There were some mufflers that looked similar but didn't have the end cut the same way, so I didn't want them.

The small hole was causing the front end to turn black. I also found out that it had loose baffles inside.

Overall I'm pleased with it so far. It doesn't sound much different to me, but the mrs. said she noticed that the new one was quieter. I can't really tell because I always run it wearing ear plugs.

Are you using the spacer that goes under the heat shield?
For us needing one,how much was the muffler?

The muffler was 55 dollars, free shipping. There's a spacer that goes under the shield? How thick? I've got it bolted right up to the shield. The old one was that way and it was ok......




The mufflers are the same length, it's an optical illusion.

Spacer should be 1/2"

The spacer goes under the heat shield where the bolt holds it on.not on the elbow.

Just kidding. I found a nut that I could use as a spacer. Dropped the exhaust tip away from the hood. Thanks Lew.

I paid $ 5 for a nos muffler, plus a bunch other insignificant parts.

Yeah, I def. did not get a Lew price on mine, and it's not NOS. Works though....
