Harbor Freight winch

1 Attachment(s)
Guys

Harbor Freight has a deal going on the 2500LB winch. This is in this months flyer. I've used these for rear lifts.

rwairforce 08-01-2014 09:42 AM

Thanks Sam.
Not sure what I would do with it but I'm convinced having it to look at will provide more possibilities than a $50 bill. It seems like every guy should have one of these just waiting to be used.

Oak 08-01-2014 09:44 AM

Ya, I saw that Sam. Looks like a good deal. What's up with the 22 HP motor they have in that flyer for $699? The boys over on the green site say it's not available yet but it will be early September....thinking about a repower:bigthink:

cadzag72 08-01-2014 09:59 AM

My neighbor has one on the back of his power king, he uses it to skid logs up onto his trailer. Works great, and it's way easier on the back!

rwairforce 08-01-2014 10:09 AM

Not having any luck. I entered all the item#s on the ad and nothing indicates that sale price. it's $84.99 online. If anybody has the secret please let us know. I would like to get one of these and if experience serves, you can have it shipped for like $6.99. I just got a new 3 ton floor jack and shipping was $6.99..

Sam Mac 08-01-2014 10:09 AM

Todd

No idea what the deal is on the V twin Chonda. Think I'll pick up a couple of these $50.00 winch's.

Randy

I just called them and ordered 2. Phone number is 1-800-423-2567

Total with tax and shipping was $112.27

rwairforce 08-01-2014 10:43 AM

Thanks for the phone number Sam.
I just ordered two for myself as well.

It took longer to answer all his other offers than to place the order. Can you believe $6.99 shipping? I can't drive to the store for that amount.

garnold 08-01-2014 12:03 PM

Just got mine ordered :-) Thanks for the post!

PaulS 08-01-2014 12:15 PM

I did not order one. I already have one that is sitting in my basement that I bought several months ago for the same price. Current plans are to make up an attachment to fit a receiver hitch to the winch and then make up several square hitch receivers to use on our new trailer, rear of our woods tractor and whatever else I can think of.

Dane in PA 08-01-2014 12:59 PM

I've always thought about mounting one onto a trailer for helping get those stuck cubs or ones that don't run up onto it. :bigthink:

Paul would this help? I've thought about using something like this. http://t.harborfreight.com/hitch-rec...hes-69106.html

jkier 08-01-2014 01:11 PM

I've had a HF2500lb winch on the front of my quad for 8yrs now.
I think I got it for $40 back then, never thought it would last this long.

Use is constantly in the winter for the plow lift and throughout the summer for everything else
:beerchug:

Like to hook a ac/dc converter to it bolt the winch onto the I- beam in my basement workshop and use it to lift heavy objects.

Reading my mind on that one. Thought it might be helpful lifting cubs and engines.

PaulS 08-01-2014 09:45 PM

GArnold yes I think that hookup would work well will have to look at it.

Cool! Now I have someone that can test it out for me :beer2:

Oak 08-02-2014 12:51 AM

I have one on my trailer and it works great for what it is. It's loud but I'll use it till it breaks and throw it in the trash and get another, can't beat'em for what they cost. I wouldn't use them for any overhead work, don't think they would be safe and are not rated for that. They other China tool store "Northern China Tool" makes a hoist that is rated for overhead work for a little more $.

I agree with the over head fear  I'd just use it to do the lifting and then secure the item up with something more trusting.

My 2 winch's showed up today. :beerchug:

Mine should be sitting at my door tonight :) Can't wait to pick something up :beer2:

rwairforce 08-08-2014 02:28 PM

Ahahahaha... I just went to HF website to check my order status and the order doesn't even show in my history. I'm assuming that since I ordered via phone that they don't put it in my history. Regardless, I have no idea where they are but they should show up today as well.
If anybody thinks of what I might do with these please let me know. Its Sam's fault that I have two of them.:biggrin2:

garnold 08-08-2014 02:32 PM

Yeah same here. When I checked my order via the website nothing showed up. I called to confirm that the order actually happened (which it did). When I called I asked them to email me the tracking number because I never got one. Just checked FedEx and it is out for delivery :) So now what to do with this bugger :bigthink: Dad plans on teaching me to weld so maybe some kind of winch or something is in order. Never know!

rwairforce 08-08-2014 02:45 PM

I'll probably put one on my trailer. There has been a couple times that it would have been great to help drag a dead tractor up my tilted trailer.

Do not buy the HF trailers, I know a few people that have them and there constantly breaking something. My one friend has lost his fenders about 3 times, just driving down the road and they fly off cause the mounting bracket broke.

rwairforce 08-08-2014 04:07 PM

ahahhahaaa..... I hope these winches are just a little better.

Sam Mac 08-08-2014 05:10 PM

One is going on my trailer to assist in loading dead Cubs. The other, well not sure just yet but for $50.00 it can sit on the shelf till I come up with a need.

rwairforce 08-08-2014 11:20 PM

Agreed.
They're not very large at all. I got both of mine today.

Well I finally got around to mounting one of these to my trailer, today it got the test pulling a dead 2182 up the ramp onto the deck. Gotta say I am seriously impressed. Just used a tired mower battery for power. Didn't even grunt. The remote is the hot setup. Only negative is a little delay from when you let off on the button to when it shuts off.

garnold 10-21-2014 08:24 PM

Nice man. Glad it's working out. That was a good buy and glad you posted it. I might think about mounting this to the front of my cub to mess around and maybe lift my plow blade.

I have a new one sitting one the shelf waiting, too bad my 2 year warranty has run out. I've heard those remotes burn out quickly then you have to make your own switch. The other day a friend used a bigger HF winch to pull a dead chevy 4x4 onto a trailor. He'd been waiting for a sale on the winch.($279 i think) It pulled that heavy truck right up, only trouble was the cable didn't wind up straight and bound a couple times. That cable looked like 3/8", plenty of power may need some reengineering. Mike

My son mounted one of them on the back of the 1864 and was really surprised at the pulling force it has. I think he said it lined up with the holes already in the back plate. My second one will go on my trailer like Sam's.

Wow that mounted on just fine indeed! I have no experience with QL's but would that rear plate fit on a 108 WF? I would think so right? If the winch mounted right on then it would save me from figuring out something else :) Thanks for the pic!

green 4 acres 10-22-2014 10:31 AM

I have the HF $60 winch, always worked great I need it to get dead cars in the shop up a 6" step . three of us cannot do it .

I want to build a bucket lift to mount on the 128 to take me up 12 ft using the winch

garnold 10-22-2014 10:40 AM

So how well do these handle up to the weather? I realize that I shouldn't just leave this thing out in the rain or covered in snow. But heck, I wouldn't ever do that to my cub anyway HAHA. Still, these are made to be used outside so how durable are they to the elements? I might play around using one to lift my plow and wanted to know if using it in the winter is a bad idea? It's going to get snow on it no mater what I do and just not sure if it will handle this. For $60 you can only expect so much.

I've also used these little winch's for a rear lift on a couple tractors. 1st one I did was my 121 that I use to plow with. Beats lifting the plow the hard way. The other was on a 1572.

Now, the winch will give you a little bit of extra front weight to remedy that wheelie problem you mentioned in your other thread! And it should help pull you up the hill if needed be!:beerchug:

I used mine to lift my snow plow for 3 yrs now and it got wet and snow on it. I think it holds up rather well for a cheap winch.:biggrin2:
