However in Lews case the decimal points may move to the left, but only for him.

I give $400 for the first one and $500 for the other one

cubcadet 07-03-2014 03:07 PM

Wow, those were some great deals, Some people have all the luck. Some people don't know what they have.

PaulS 07-03-2014 03:47 PM

Putting a price on any cub is quite hard to do. Location is a big factor in the price. If cub cadets are fairly plentiful the price can be much lower than a location that very few cubs exist.

That's easy for you to say Nick, since your spending your dad's money! :biggrin2:
If it was your pocket, your tune would change. Besides, I know you have never spent that much on a cub.

Jonathan,
I don't find that funny, we happen to know alittle about pricing, you get what you pay for, and we are collectors, lol.

Have you ever paid $1200 for a cub? I know your a collector. I think your high on pricing though..... :biggrin2: You didn't even give anywhere near that for your 800, and it's way more rare than a 169. When it comes to older cubs, you DO NOT get what you pay for. They all need work, and the more expensive ones are just that. More expensive. Unless your buying fully restored, it's not worth giving $1200 IMHO. I guess if you have money to blow, that's up to you. :TwoCents: Nick, you do need to remember that what we spend on cubs is our own money, someone isn't buying them for us. Not being mean, or rippin on you. But seriously man, your only 15.

I know, but what does it matter if I'm only 15? I know you don't get what you pay for now that I think about it. my 169 is in great condition, so what we paid for it, I think it was worth it., I do believe I know about pricing.

drifter 07-03-2014 06:10 PM

This is why I was asking. I think it would be worth $ 9-1000

THANK YOU! This should have been the answer to this thread a long time ago. I will never forget the advice that someone gave me a LONG time ago.

"It's worth what you are willing to pay"

If you don't think it's worth it, then don't buy it. Pretty simple. Shoot him an offer that you feel comfortable with. If he takes it, great, if not, move on.

Jonathan, you are right. No Cub is really worth what you pay for. And I will make a statement...169's are overpriced. Period. The only thing that makes them "rare" (and I use that term loosely anymore with these) is that they made 4,005 of them. They are a glorified 149. And that is coming from a guy who has owned FOUR 169's. While 4,005 is low in Cub numbers, they seem to all be surfacing here in the last year or so, due to the word being spread that they might be worth something. So, in my opinion, they should be worth $100-150 more than a good 149.

That being said, I realize that I have been trying to sell one of mine in the 7-900 dollar range, which most probably think that's freaking ridiculous. BUT, when you see collectors like Nick who are willing to pay higher prices for Cubs that are lower production, why should I follow suit to guys that are lower than me? If they want to pay it, let them! I know I wouldn't give that kind of money for one, but, thats me.

That's just my .02 on the deal. If anyone don't like it, tough! :beerchug:

I agree, I know I wouldn't pay through the nose,I will find one eventually and move the decimal point to the left.....

red56turbo 07-03-2014 11:06 PM

If cubs, wheel horses, or Jane Does are priced accordingly, they will sell. If priced low, they sell faster. If priced high or overpriced, the prolly will sit for a while...............

Nuff said.............

Nick nothing wrong with being 15 and into cubs. Most 15 year olds are drooling at video games. Keep your insight and knowledge coming. None of my busines what you or your Dad pay for cubs. Nobody elses either unless you make it public knowledge. Lew, don't say a word. :BlahBlah:

I agree with you. I hate it when people ask "what is it worth". Especially when it's after they buy......

If I were to sell my cubs, they would be high..... because I don't want to sell them. :biggrin2::biggrin2:

Was it a false statement?

Listen Nick, I said I wasn't ripping on you. I like you man. Your a good kid. But it's not really fair to everyone else when you use the word "I", when it's not really you. My point is, if you yourself were the one spending money, then it's fair to make recommendations. But as it is, it's not. I just don't think it's right when you say "I'd spend $XXX", or "I think it's worth $XXX" when you have never spend a dollar of your own money on a cub. I'm done. Just be honest, that's what I'm saying.:beerchug:

Ok,
Since no one else is stepping up to the plate, give Nick a break guys. Good Gawd, they are freakin' garden tractors. I feel he's entitled to an OPINION like anyone else isn't he? I could care less if it is his money or not, it's none of my business. Is it right to drag him around on a public forum for just giving his opinion? We all like to give Nick a hard time, but this is going overboard IMHO. We have to keep the younger generation interested in CC's What's up lately on the forum? People are pretty grouchy.

Oh, and I'm not 15. I'm 38 and pay for my own cubs. Have been paying for my own since I was throwing hay bales for my grandpa back when I as 14 or 15 and working hard for my money back then. Not taking sides on anything, but everyone needs to move on or discuss things via email or PM. This is just an opinion. Heck PM me if ya have any comments. I'm pretty thick skinned. :biggrin2: Ok, off my soapbox. Hope I don't get banned.........:bigthink:
