New Owner
So a friend of mine bought an 800 new in 75. It was a 74 left over that they made him a great deal on so he bought it. Well, he has some health concerns and now pays for his lawn service so he passed her on to me. When I got her he said she only ran about ten minutes and would quit and the starter needed shimmed. So I went and picked her up and off we went to her new home. I still have the parts for the origional starter but when I took it to the rebuild shop they said it couldn't be repaired because something was broken inside. Anyhow, I ordered up a new starter with the bracket to replace the replacement he had that would not bolt up. Ten minute run time and she quit just like he said. I put in some Lucas gas treatment, bought a new plug, tightened down a loose plug cap and put some sea foam in the oil and second tank of gas. Happy to say she is running like a top again, doesn't quit at all and wow how quiet......I'll get some pics up soon.

That's a nice 800!

Nice looking 800!:beerchug:

That's one of the nicest 800's I ever seen ! I would not bother at all to repaint it,.....perhaps a grand clean up looks like all she would need, its only original once!
Good luck with your new garden tractor, hope to see it more often on the forum :IH Logo:! |
Nice looking 800, looks to be all original, those tires are huge, and those ih hubcaps are rare.:beer2: also has the rare arm rests.
|
She has some beautiful patina.
|
Yes pretty much all origional. He had it re rung and a valve job. Starter went out on it but I do have the origional. He said tires were a good deal so he put them on, he had to spin the fronts around to raise them. Love the hubcaps. I was thinking about having the seat redone since it is all cracked like 40 year old vinyl gets.

Very nice 800, I'm in the middle of mine right now. Fixing the rot but it's coming along nice, definitely roached but I found all the missing hard to find parts. Except for the small starter which you seem to have. Hmmmmmm, good to hear. Anyway thanks for responding, I'm in winter haven a few miles north of you. We need to get together at flywheelers |
I have the starter but it is unrepairable, at least the starter people told me so. I am still going to keep the shell.
