Hey guys,
Changing the cork gasket on the hydro pump, can anyone give me the proper torque specs for the 4 3/8 bolts that hold the pump on ? Also I heard with the new gasket you don't want to line the 3 holes that are on the gasket up With the 3 holes on the rear end so it doesn't leak , is this true? Also what way does the gasket go on? Cork side against pump? Or cork side against case? Sorry, I'm new to this lol.

Nick

If your pump has the 3 drain holes in it then line the gasket up with the holes so the oil will return to the case. Newer pumps don't have the 3 drain holes on those I put the gasket on so that the holes in it are at the top an I also fill the holes with a little silicone JUST THE HOLES. Torque calls for 30FT LBS. I usually stick the gasket to the tranny case but I don't think it matters. Keep everything nice and clean.

Thanks Sam, mine has 1 drain hole and 2 bolts , at least that's what it looks like, so how should it go with this kind of pump?

The gasket only goes on one way,the correct way, so put it on the pump first.do not block any of the holes off.
not sure about the torque spec but RTFM and it may tell you.

it wasn't necessary to remove it to take the pump off.the bottom bolt goes into the pump case, the top one bolt holds it to the tranny

You are a fart smella, I mean smart fella.so you did RTFM!

Sam Mac 06-27-2014 12:09 PM

Nick

Just do it as Lew told you. Your pump has the bottom case drain so the holes need to remain open. The extra round part of the gasket as Lew said goes on your forehead. The 3 little round extra parts go on your chin then you'll be a 3 star dot head.

Don't know about Lew but I'd say "Reassemble in the reverse order of disassembly". :biggrin2:
