Want to install different air cleaner

Want to put a 169 style air cleaner on my 126. I know the parts are put there but was curious if anyone has done this yet?

P.s. I did try the search but had no luck

Just use one off of a KT or a Mag. They're the same, except they don't have the extra holes in the side. (Which you don't need.)

yep, We were doing that 20+ years ago. like J-Mech suggested the KT style works to as do the old cast iron K series twins

Any advantage to running these?

none what so ever if everything else is stock. waste of time and money but I suppose the cool factor is there

Have you done this mod yourself?

Put a bigger air cleaner on? No. Why? Like we said, it doesn't gain anything. If your wanting to know if it bolts up, or will work, yes. But I don't do it. Not on a stock engine. Now, if I was going to up the HP.... (internal engine work) then yeah, I would. If your looking for HP, then it's not going to do anything.

Is there anything that I could do for this k301 to wake it up while keeping it reliable and mower friendly?

What's wrong with it? What are you trying to do that it won't? :bigthink:

Nothing is wrong with her what so ever - runs great:beerchug: but a few extra ponies never hurt anyone - especially during snow blowing season

J-Mech 06-23-2014 09:32 PM

Before you play with it..... Are you sure it is running 3600? Does it have the #30 carb? Which head does it have?

Not sure to be honest - the garden tractor hobby is new to me and I'm not sure of all the different parts. If you tell me what to look for I can report back in another day. What I can tell you is that the head was recently decarboned by the dealer, new starter/ gen, new wiring harness, plug and wire, fluids changed and greased. The dealer handles all the service minus grease and oil changes.

J-Mech 06-24-2014 01:04 PM

So, are you able to do any mods yourself? Or would you be taking it to the dealer and having them do what I would tell you? :bigthink:

A 301 should come equipped with a #26 carb.

I am very mechanically inclined but time is a big issue which is why the dealer does most of it but I do have tools and I know how to use em:beerchug:

Userj8670 06-26-2014 11:04 PM

J-Mech - any more on the upgrades that could be done?

cubs-n-bxrs 06-27-2014 09:18 AM

I guess the bottom line is you want more ponies put in a bigger engine.
