Cub 800 questions

I have found a 800 roller for sale and can get it for a good price. I know finding a engine will be a pain but other then the engine and certain parts on the engine is there anything that would tie it to being a true800 ? As in serial numbers or anything else on the frame? Thanks for any advice im needing some ammo for when I go look at it

Cubcrazy 06-05-2014 06:25 AM

The serial # tag on the frame will be specific for the 800, I think it is kind code 52 if my memory is correct. Does it have the serial tag on the side of the frame?

cubby102 06-05-2014 08:26 AM

Havnt went to look at it yet plan to later today. Thanks for the info I will look at see if I can get him talked into a lower price if its real as I think finding a engine might be a pain

You could put 10 hp or 12 hp in it for now

Whatever you do leave the rarity of the tractor and the fact that you collect out of the conversation. I accidentally let it slip that I was a collector and the guy then doubled the price and was serious about it, I said ' so just because im a collector you now think im gonna pay double what you had it advertised for ' he said ' collectors always pay more ' so I reponded ' your out of your bleepin mind ' and walked away.

JLM78 06-05-2014 03:33 PM

I don't say any thing about collecting till I Got the tractor or what ever loaded

Actually he called me 2 weeks later and offered it to me for his original price, I guess I was the only one who called about it. I told him if he delivered it I would take it and he drove it down the next day. Turns out it had a creeper in it that nobody knew about because the handle was broke off right where it went into the side of the creeper.

Looks like he has a ton of stuff for sale. Tractors all lined up in a row. Parts and more parts on shelves. Parts jockey of some sorts I wonder? What was he asking for the 800? I'm not interested, just curious. Needs to have a kubota under the hood to stir my interest.......:biggrin2:

He has it listed......

Yep that would be the one. Ive just decided that by the time I find the correct engine and parts for it I would have way more in it then I could just buy a good original for. Yes im collecting em and yes its rare but im still not buyin a vw for a Cadillac price

Yeah, found it after I posted. $450 bucks for a "rare" tractor missing all the "rare" parts including the "rare engine" and "rare muffler" and "rare starter", etc, etc..............:biggrin2:

Doesn't even have a driveshaft or clutch. You can add some more green to find those. Really only buying the serial number tag. Probably more like at $200-250 dollar tractor due to the fact it's an 800. Otherwise, under $200 like most rollers. I, too would've passed. :TwoCents:

cubby102 06-07-2014 03:42 AM

I honestly wasnt willing to go over 200 simply because of the rarity and being 800specific Parthenon being the cheapest (I like to fix stuff back to the way it came) I will just hold out for a complete fixer upper besides I got the gear drive chores covered with my 1000 and 1200

J-Mech 06-09-2014 12:57 PM

I see the ad for this tractor is down. Did someone here get it? :bigthink:

cubby102 06-09-2014 01:54 PM

I was at the guys house saturday and he still had it. Said he had a buddy interested in it

Wonder if his "buddy" was smart enough to know that "deal" was basically for decals and a serial tag..... :bigthink:

cubby102 06-09-2014 03:50 PM

No clue I tried to talk to him on it and he avoided the convorsation. We ended up picking up a ccc 782d off him for 350 for my buddy. And I picked up some relief valves for my 1450 . Also picked out a decent looking original 1250 im going back for when I get the spare cash

red56turbo 06-10-2014 01:00 AM

What's the deal on the 782D? Pretty cheap. Another roller without an engine or any of the diesel parts? Inquiring minds wanna know............:bigthink: :biggrin2:

cubby102 06-10-2014 04:12 AM

Lmao I hate my phone sometimes. The d was not supposed and o be there it auto corrected it to 782d. Lol if it were a 350 dollar 782d it would definatly been with me instead of my buddy. But not it was just a regular 782 with a aluminum rear and series 2 in it. But we did talk him into throwing in a cast iron. Rear with it. Also it runs and drives with a new battery. It had a loud knocking tapping sound which the guy thought was internal but found out while looking at it that it was just a loose muffler end cap so we bought it. I welded up the muffler tonight at work and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it now

That would have been a heck of a deal on the 782d!
Sounds like your buddy still got a good deal on the 782!:beer2:

ACecil 06-10-2014 09:55 AM

Your buddy got a great deal on his 782! :beerchug:

red56turbo 06-10-2014 11:59 AM

"D" or not, he got one heck of a deal. Series II and all. :beer2:
