Picked up a 109
Tonight I picked up an all original 1 owner Cub 109. It needs some tinkering to get it running but overall a very nice tractor. I also got 2 mower decks, blade, and a Danco snow blower for an Original. I got talking with the guy and he was asking about me being into Cubs and got asking me if I know the Original Cub Cadets. I explained to him some of the Originals I've had and he said " I know just what you would love to have" He began to tell me that a good friend of his has an Original that has never had a drop of gas in it ever! He also said he has "all the attachments" still in the boxes....would the attachments have came in boxes? So I have got to see this thing and I was told I could have a chance to buy it. I would absolutely think this is a once in a lifetime opportunity if this is the real deal. I am EXCITED to see this!!! He wrote down my name and number and said he will get ahold of me when his friend gets back in town and we can meet up. By the way the guy I bought the 109 from is 84 and his friend is 89! I will keep you guys posted on the "NOS" Original and post some pics of my newly acquired 109 and attachments hopefully tomorrow. :beerchug:

Wow, I'd feel like a big shot if I could just say that I know a guy who has a collection like that.

Wow you are definitely on a roll martin that news is incredible. Not forgetting about you 109 and attachments though, good job on those pick ups. Did the guy say if the O was still in its crating? That is unreal and I'm sure we are all crazy for pics on this one

Congrats on the 109 Martin! Looking forward to pics!
The deal on the O sounds like a great opportunity! Hope you get it!:beerchug: |

Congrats on the 109.
Sounds like the real deal on the 0. Attachments did come in boxes, blades, tillers, snowthrowers and whatnot. |
WOW is all I can say. :beerchug:
|
Congrats on the 109, Martin! Hope you can work out a deal on the O!
|
Sounds like a really nice treasure find!! Glad the 109 has a new hope to someone who appreciates it. If that opportunity with the O pans out, then be sure to save the boxes, too as they are sometimes worth as much or more than what they hold!

Nice 109! Keep us posted on the Original... :)

Any word on the O?
|
Nothing yet. Should be within another week hopefully...

Not to throw any water on the excitement over an untouched O and attachments, but this sounds like the urban legand that every collector segment has. When we had an antiques biz there was the legend of the old folks back a dirt road deep in the country of [name your state, usually PA, OH or any New England state] that had a barn full of early painted furniture, so and so in the business had been there and seen it and it was original paint and all in pristine condition and there were no heirs and on and on. :BlahBlah:
I do hope this one is real, would be a kick to see some untouched early pieces of Cub history. |
Well guys....who knows what the deal is with the Original. I have tried calling and calling the guy who told me about the O and haven't been able to get ahold of him:bash2:. This past weekend my wife and I were in the area and stopped at his place...of course nobody was around. I left a note on his porch with what I was after with my name and number so we will see. I'm starting to loose hope but ya never know.

If you never see it, you still have the 109!
|
Sounds like a red herring. Every time my employee drives his '73 Charger to work, another truck driver tells me about a Hemi Cuda he has stashed away with 4 miles on it, or something like that. Some people just want to sound impressive. Oh, and every one of them still has a c-note taped to the dash.
