Neighborhood service with the 100.

Just doing some "community service" (play time) with the 100.

Was driving down the road, just picking trash out of the ditch and fields. Went about a mile down the road and back.

I'd really like to find one of the little fender-ed IH carts. (Sorry, don't know the cart models yet --still kinda new to the IH game)

Have any of your machines helped out neighbors or done some service for the community?

Good on you!
Yep, after hurricane Ivan, me and the 127 with a log chain and a sheet of plywood skidded downed tree logs from backyards to the curb.
We did not cut for firewood, just cut small enough to roll onto the plywood and drag it out to the curb.
I also cut the lawns of the retirees within site of our house.
In return I get garden goodies, home baked goods, etc. LOL.

Looks good, you are talking about a #2 trailer, I have 4 of them.:biggrin2:

What you're doing is great! Keep it up! :beerchug:

Nice job with the 100!

But be honest...

You really are collecting aluminum cans to finance the next IH.... :High5:

MinnesotaCadet 04-18-2014 03:39 PM

I have tilled a couple neighbors garden with my 2B tiller made around $150 last summer.

I actually hadn't thought of that --it would take a long time to finance a new spark-plug. Hahah.

I only usually do this two or three times a year.

I live next door to a 60 y.o woman who lives there by herself: I often mow her back yard and did a bit of snow removal on the driveway this winter; she surprised me with a card with some $$ in it this winter (although that's not why I was doing it).

Sam Mac 04-18-2014 07:16 PM

I also plow a couple neighbors drives. One older guy is on oxygen and his wife is in a nursing home. He always wants to pay me but I won't take anything. Knowing that I helped him is worth it for me. Keep up the good work Bud! :beerchug:

The last big snow storm we got, I went over to the next door neighbors and cleared out his driveway. Rudy is around 80 and his son does come over to do snow removal but between the wind and the twoship plow, the snow was well over 2' high at the end of the driveway.

About the time I was done, the son came over and he thanked me. ( before he had the chance to offer anything, I told him I did it to help out his Dad :beerchug: )

drglinski 04-18-2014 08:28 PM

Yup exactly. $$ is not why I'm here and why I help others. (More seat time!):biggrin2:

Cubcrazy 04-18-2014 08:29 PM

Good to hear everyone's stories.
I plow couple of the neighbors drives and also have gave a couple neighbors cubs to mow with while there's were broke down.

Dane in PA 04-18-2014 09:41 PM

I'm glad to hear everyone is using the tools we've been graced with to help out around the neighborhood.

j elliff 04-19-2014 08:40 AM

same here. I go around and help the neighbors with the snow removal for more "play time" or " seat time" as it would be called. We have had a ton of snow this past winter as most everyone has and all the neighbors were so appreciative. It goes both ways though. On the occasion I was at work late I would come home to find my drive plowed as well.

This past summer I was out of commission with two shoulder surgeries ( much better now ) and my neighbor Vic mowed my yard for me for about 8 weeks. He refused to tae any money or gas for mowing. He got home cooked food and I dropped off a case of beer every week too.

First decent snow we got , I did his driveway with my 125 and QA42 as a partial payback.

On that road with no shoulders, make sure you have a slow vehicle decal and maybe a stobe light for a bicycle on the back of your trailer.

We don't want your CC stuff to get messed up.

I always have a SMV sign on the tailgate of the trailer, and never do it past late-afternoon.

Recently I used my 149 to drag my neighbors Green Tractor to my property for repair. :biggrin2:

Can you drive down the road legally? Around here that could get you a ticket for an un-insured vehicle.... anything over 5hp I think it is.. might get away with it in the grass alongside the road but even that is technically illegal.... not so good for the ag tires either

In the winter I go plowing to have some fun
year before last was on my daughters pink 72

last year was my 123 and I just get to have some fun

Nomadist 07-15-2014 11:31 AM

This past winter was heavy, so I ended up taking care of 6 driveways all winter for neighbors that needed help... Not because I like them, just because it was FUN!

rwairforce 07-15-2014 11:52 AM

I'm not surprised that this group helps others, especially the elderly. There just has to be something greater than $$$ and I think helping the elderly is one of those things. I also take care of my neighbors when needed and even though it makes me tired and sometimes sore I do get a warm feeling from doing it. This past year I also received a plate of fresh cookies still warm from the oven. At that moment those cookies were worth the $30 they would have had to pay someone to do their driveway. I have to admit,,,,I plow using my old Sears GTV16 that is setup for snow plowing all year round. No seasonal equipment change needed. It always sits around with her plow, chains and wheel weights just waiting for the snow. Another benefit of having numerous tractors.

Good job guys!

Randy

Cubby guy 07-16-2014 07:58 PM

Last week, helped out guy next door. His push mower was down for a couple of weeks, so I knocked down his back & side yards with my 800. He had loaned me his snowblower twice a few years back when my sno-blo was broken, waiting on the correct parts from sears.

So, it was kind of a pay-it-back-n-forward thing.

Plus, I got more seat time.. :biggrin2: :biggrin2:

Whizdbiz2 07-17-2014 09:21 AM

Nice work! (hope there's an SMV emblem on the back of that trailer!)

bruce s 07-18-2014 08:19 AM

I have always helped out my friends and neighbors when I can . I have been paid in cookies beer and money donations . I would just do it for the seat time. The only thing that will get you in trouble with the cops is drinkin a beer while driving a cub on the street , Don't ask me how I know . :beerchug:
