126
I just found a all original 126 in the old garage across the road from me. The guy sold it to me for 25 bucks. Everything is in good shape hasn't ran in 20yrs but was rebuilt before parked. Anything to watch for? Was this a good deal?

GREAT DEAL! :Announce:
Thank you i hope to get it running again and be using very soon
That is not a buy that is a steal. sure glad for you to get it at that price. No travel costs either.
If I were going to tear into that project. I would: 1. remove gas tank and clean very well. 2. Remove and closely inspect gas lines to carb if metal, clean it out also, if rubber I would discard and replace with new. If it has a filter get a new one if a sediment bowl take apart and clean thoroughly. 3. Remove air filter and replace. 4. Remove the carberater disassemble and clean thoroughly. 5. Buy a new battery and install. 6. Thoroughly inspect all the wiring and be sure it is wired correctly. 7. Remove the points cover and check points for pitting and corrosion. 8. Remove spark plug and clean or replace. 9. Check choke and throttle to be sure they are working. 10. Check for critter nests especially under rear engine shroud. 11. Try turning engine over by hand if free I would at this point change the oil and put some gas in and give it a go. 12. Change rear tranny fluid before running under power. |
Thank u paul ill get some pics up as soon as i figure out how too im sure ill have lots of questions
I have spent more than that in coffee and breakfast to go get worse.

Heck ya! That's one heck of a deal. Ya can't even buy a couple grease zerks for that price anymore......:biggrin2:
Are the 126s worth much or prettty common with the mower deck still in tack
The 126 is a very rare cub (by the production numbers of that model). You are going to really enjoy that cub when it is up and going. I think it is the 4th rarest by the numbers...maybe 3rd. Anyway, I really like mine and if it has been in storage for 20 years, it may be in really good shape for its age. Now, let's see about some pics so we can drool over them. Just save them as .jpg files on your computer and then click on the paper clip icon shown above, browse, upload and ok button.....then you're good!

Thank u cubcrazy im doing my best to get it going got the carb soaking gonna put some gas to it and see if she will fire tomorow
Sounds good. I'm hoping you get it running!:beerchug:

Nice job. In my quest to get the top 5 rarest cubs I paid 14 times that for my 126 but I'm insane and have a strange goal. Do your homework and make that thing new again, it deserves it. Seriously you did good and post plenty of pics because we all look forward to them. You're missing a few pieces but they are easily attainable.
You did good.:beerchug:

Great deal on your 126.
Nice find and deal. The 126 is a very nice tractor. I've got one and depending on how things go over the next few days, it may become front and center for some refurbing and needed updates.
Don't know what your terrain is like, but in my neck if the wood, the 2nd gear is a little fast, but I can really knock out some grass quickly with it. I believe your deck is a 48 inch - same as mine. The 12 hp engine handles it with ease. Again, nice find and great deal! Good luck, Bill |

Soaked the carb all nite in white viniger looks great so dumped some in the tank and site glass gonna let it soak for a bit and drain it put in some fresh gas and see if she will start cleaned up the points and plug anything else i should do let me know asap if so i pretty much wanna see if it fires and runs before changing anything else where can i find front tires for it there dry rotted and wont hold air or are tubes a cheaper way to go for now
Ok sad news tried to fire it up and no spark and leaking gas out of the site glass and bowl on carb is there any kits available for these and should i go for points or coil first
You might swapping out the condenser. If your points look good, that might not be the problem, but it too is a wear item. I got rid of the clear fuel bowl on my 126. I found at NAPA a 90 degree shut-off valve (don't recall the part number) with a pipe thread and screwed it into the tank. I put an inline filter just downstream of it - no leaks.

Where us the oil filter located in the 12 hp motors
