125 rebuild

I started my 1968 125 rebuild today and I have a few questions.
First I found that my motor has the belt drive to run hydraulic assist, do all motors come ready for this? or did mine have it at one point?
Second what puller do I need to pull my steering wheel? I have a three arm one and a car wheel puller but they won't work. Does any one have a pic of it?
Last is does any one have pics of a 125 restored? I want to get the colours right.
Thanks!

Yes, they all came with that pulley.

It's best to use an air hammer. Soak it good, but this style of puller probably causes the least amount of damage..... but look out, they're pricy!

Only thing I can see wrong with this one is that the motor is a replacement and is black. It should be yellow like the rest of the machine. If I missed something, maybe someone else will chime in. (I have a 125 but it's not restored, so I pulled this from the inter-webs.)

I just re-did my 125 last summer/fall. here's the threads with finishing pictures for you!

http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=28706

there's also a lot of different wheel pulling techniques on the forum here if you do a search, plus there's a link in the technical section of the forum. good luck!

Thanks for all the help. Going today to get one of those pullers.
cadzag72 that's one nice 125, I hope mine is that nice when it's done.
I will post pics later today of progress. I found a deal on a lift frame and a 44' deck for a 582, I was wondering would it work on my 125? or should I just look for a 42' 125 deck? Thanks!

Frame will not. Deck.... with a little modification yes. Pulley is the wrong size, and I believe the hangers are too far apart. But not 100% sure on the hangers.

some new pic of the deck one question was the front roller made of wood like this one?

Alvy 03-22-2014 01:20 PM

Very nice deck indeed, and yes, wooden roller is OE. And you have a spring assist already and 3 point, any other options?

it did have a tiller a snowblower a brinly disc a push bladeand a 42'' deck but in the 47 years its bin in my family it was lost over the years.but hey it adds to the fun of the rebuild finding all the things i want to have for it.hell in the 47 years its bin running its only had one motor rebuild and that was in 95 at a cost of $1300 so i would say its well built. still got to find a lift frame and a mule drive for it but by summer i should be as good as new:biggrin2:

ACecil 03-22-2014 09:31 PM

That's a nice deck!

cadzag72 03-22-2014 10:02 PM

Boy, I wish my decks looked that nice! I think they're both too far gone to get looking that good again.

did some painting today just a few parts

ACecil 03-23-2014 08:00 PM

Your parts are looking great!

Alvy 03-23-2014 09:34 PM

Garth what paint are you using? I noticed in one of your first posts you asked about colors. All the yellows were the same but thre are different whites depending on serial number breaks. Paint codes are in the FAQ section. Good job so far.
