Anyone have Dealer Pricing Info?
Anyone have new pricing for CC tractors? I was wondering what the two models I have (1000, 1450) cost new.

This is the best I could do:

DWayne, When was that published? I'm assuming several years after they were new, say '80's?

I just went on Chevy's web site and built the 2014 equivalent of my dad's 1978 truck for fun. Basically it was a stripped-down work truck - the lowest priced options. It came out to $24,400. If garden tractors rose in price as fast a comparable model in price to my 1450 would be $12k. Ouch. My dad bought a 108 brand new in 1974. IH had a promotion that if you bought the tractor they threw in the deck for $1. I always thought about that and wondered why they made this offer. I think they were clearing out the 1x8/9 series because the Quietline series was coming. He bought at the right time. Another observation is the trade-in prices. Ouch. Your $2900 1650 got you $230 - $430 when you traded it in. Now I see why you guys hang on to these tractors so long. |

BTW thanks for posting this. |

That would explain the looooow trade-in values.
BTW why did the weight of a 1450 go down 105 pounds from 1977 to 1978? Now that I look at it they all went down. Why? |
Someone may be able to correct me, but I think somewhere along the line some cast iron on the Cubs got changed over to aluminum. Possibly the axle tubes and maybe a couple of other things, such as the top nose piece on the hood. :bigthink:

The Cub Cadets lost weight hibernating over the winter....
////wisenheimer mode off At some point, IH did make the switch to some aluminum parts; the upper nose piece was one of them. I'm not sure what else was changed. :confused2.gif":confused2.gif" |
I may be wrong but the first reference to aluminum tranny/axle housings was in 1983 The change from metal front and side panels to plastic was I believe was in 1990 with the intro of the cyclops series tractors.

the lower grill support the part that bolts to the frame went from cast iron to aluminum and the axle tubes went to aluminum as well , I had a few 82 CCC cubs that were all aluminum rears so they did get slightly lighter , my dad has a late 77 1000 with aluminum lower grill where all my other quietlines were 76 and 74 had cast iron ones

LOL I thought you either forgot or was teasing me!
I think it says a 127 was $1222.00? Kinda hard to read. Maybe jimbob can help on this one too? Thanks |
Just found this thread :biggrin2:
I got Sam's pic and uploaded/resized it to make it readable here, I'm sure he'll come along and post it when he gets a chance. Lew, If you can email me the full size of the pic you posted, I can upload/resize it for you as well to make it readable :beerchug: |

BTW, if you put that link in brackets like this it'll embed it into your post so it's not a link, it's an image :beerchug: |
I can read it,control/plus makes it bigger....

I'm happy with what I've paid for my two 2182's and my 1782 compared to what they sold for back in the day. I'm guessing Lew is starting to like his new to him 2284 a lot better now. :beerchug:

Edit: this is what happens when drinking and reading only the first page of a 3 page post from months ago!! :beer2: |
The list did not include the 682 which, according to wikia http:// http://tractors.wikia.com/wi..._Cub_Cadet_682, sold for about $3295 which according to an online calculator is $8, 606.62.
Today a john deer x500 might come close and sells for about $6K and has a differential lock. The diff lock would be nice. I expect the 2k difference is due to lower manufacturing costs. |

wasn't sure if anyone would be interested or not, and if there was an archive of things like this, but here is a sales receipt I came across for a new 2072 sold in 1990 |
Cast iron to Aluminum
I know this thread is a little old, but Just reading through it I can give a little input.
I have a both 1974 1650 and a 1978 1450. interestingly enough I have noticed : 1650 ('74) Front grille frame is Cast iron lower, ( hood nose is cast aluminum Complete rear end and (axle tubes are cast iron) 1450 ('78) lower grille frame cast aluminum ( hood nose same as 1650) Rear end is cast iron with Aluminum axle tubes. also the is more clearance between the fender stamping and the frame. |
