Just got back from picking these up,a 70 and a 125
The 125 has a 3 point and spring assist mower deck. The 70 has a replacement 8hp in it,Ags,and fenders for my 73:biggrin2: I will unload in the morning before the snow flies... I will take some pics also. |
Man Lew I just need to move. Good job as usual. Fenders for the 73, I agree. I think you've maxed out the capacity of your half ton truck, congrats.
|
Nice picks Lew :beerchug:
Hmmm, a 125 :biggrin2: ( just kidding, I only have room for my two 125s ) |
Looks like a great haul. I like the look of the wider aGS on the 70.

Its like almost impossible to find a Cub for sale around here. I wanna find another one to have so the BF can have fun too. Im thinking a hydro for the next one. Great find on both of those :) :BB&YS:

It's Okay to have a hydro Sam.
I would think he would want one cause they are faster than gear drives... |

The tractors look good Lew! Yeah, that seat is pretty rough so you better send that 6 pad my way!:biggrin2:

So the last few days I worked on the 70, after pulling the head off with a bad spark plug thread,I noticed the valves were loose in their guides also, started it up after fixing the head, but man what a knocker,it wouldn't throttle up,just die, changed the coil and the condenser, and the same thing happened, lots of blowby. So I pulled the motor, found a few PO boo boos,he put new valves, but didn't change the guides, prolly didn't matter as he put the rod on incorrectly.

That the K161 that's in your other thread? |
That stinks Lew! :bash2:

You got lucky Lew :beerchug: |

Its a keeper:biggrin2: |
Sorry to hear that, Lew.
|
The reason to put the rod oriented so the oil hole is toward the camshaft is to be sure to get oil in the hole (and to the crank journal) while the motor is running? Is that correct?

OOPS. Good thing you noticed the boo boos, but I guess eventually it would have made a nice viewing window for you to investigate all the issues :biggrin2::beerchug:
|
That is so sad... Sometimes I think that you should be required to pass a test before you are allowed to buy tools.
|
Yes I agree, the valve guides were never changed, just stuck new valves in there but they were lapped.hehe

On the motor I just got back from the machine shop, I had bought new valves and guides. The shop called and tried to talk me out of putting them in! Kinda upset me. (I'm trying out a new (to me) machine shop.) I said, "Well, they don't cost that much and I already bought them, so just put them in, OK?" That's the kind of people they are used to dealing with though..... those just wanting to save a buck! |
