Well, I've been wanting a good IH built 782 for a long time now, and i finally got one. She is great. She's got a series 2 engine, a plow, deck, and chains. And she couldn't be any better.

Nice score on the 782
I gotta ask,
Does it have an oil filter?

cubcadet 12-30-2013 04:42 PM

IH_147 12-30-2013 04:47 PM

thanks mike and cart man ( nick) :biggrin2:and to be honest lew i dont know where do i look to find out

darkminion_17 12-30-2013 04:49 PM

remove the right side panel and it will show itself to you.

The reason I ask is the air cleaners sometimes are replaced with the wrong one.

dont think so not for sure tho

macman81 12-30-2013 05:00 PM

From what I've been told not all series II have oil filters. I guess you almost have to run the serial numbers to tell for sure and hope the tin is original. I'd say keep it full of oil and don't worry bout it

IH_147 12-30-2013 05:02 PM

i stand corrected it does

darkminion_17 12-30-2013 05:23 PM

darkminion_17 12-30-2013 07:47 PM

I guess the motor was replaced at one time with a series II.as that is not a series II spec #

Sugarmaker 12-30-2013 07:53 PM

I like it! I think I would look good on one of those too.

Nice find on the 782. Great tractors, you'll never want to get off of it. Engine #s are on the left side next to the fuel pump. Should be spec'd above 24000 for series II. I'm pretty certain you'll find numbers similar to those shown below on my CCC782. Keep an eye out for front and rear main seal oil leaks, and please install an in-line fuel shutoff next to the fuel pump that you can operate simply by lifiting the hood. There is a factory shut-off under the fuel tank, but you can't get to it without removing the side panel. These KT's are notorious for leaking fuel either through carb or through the fuel pump; filling the crankcase with fuel, and hydro-locking the engine. Blame it on today's ethanol fuel for eating up the seals and needles... You have the best of both worlds with the IH built tractor and the series II replacement motor, although there are plenty that would say they all belong with Mag-18's :bigthink:

markmdz 02-12-2014 05:24 PM

I saw this machine in person last weekend and honestly, the pics don't do it justice. This 782 is CLEAN.

Keep it going Josh. ...and fix up the other cub soon.
