Lift conversion

Has anyone here ever put an IH hydraulic lift on a 147 that had been equipped with an electric lift? If so, could you explain your method and how the job turned out? I had sent my electric lift out for rebuild, but it never made it home. I hate to convert it, but other than a manual lift, I don't have any other ideas. Thanks you.

darkminion_17 12-02-2013 07:04 PM

yes you can put one on it,it is explained in the manuals section, but @ $350 to 400 a pop,I would find a Elift for it.

What happened to the E-lift you sent out?:bigthink:

I think the guy he sent it to had a 147 that needed one:biggrin2:

Just kidding:bash2:

Buy a new actuator. I made my own electric lift for my 104 and it works great.

As reliable as the e lifts are (from what I've read), and how much $$ the hydro. lifts are plus how much mods. on a 147 frame are required to instal, my $$ is on putting in a manual lever lift. They work fine, especially with a spring assist IMO.

vartz04 12-02-2013 07:24 PM

The old actuators are not reliable and are slow. Mine I can have the 42" blade on the front and stand on the sleeve hitch and it will lift me and the blade up without straining and no change in lift speed.

Really glad this post started because I was looking these up the other night and wanted to get an idea how much power they draw. Are you just connecting to the battery direct? I also wanted to add a winch but not sure if I would need a more powerful s/g and/or a battery with high amperage to handle the draw.

vartz04 12-02-2013 10:23 PM

Mine I think is 6 amps at full load. Its hooked to the standard cub set up for power with a Dpdt reversing switch.

I haven't looked that deep into the wiring diagram for my 108. When you say standard power area you saying there is an aux power setup or something else?

vartz04 12-02-2013 11:05 PM

Nope. Hooked to the battery. No modifications to the battery or charging system to run it

Cool. Thank you. Would you mind linking to the model you're using please. Very helpful thread. Thanks :)

vartz04 12-02-2013 11:12 PM

Not sure of the exact model I'd have to go take it off the tractor to see the serial number/model number. Its a 1000lb 4" stroke linear actuator. Anything 500-1000 lb and 4-6" stroke will work.

garnold 12-02-2013 11:17 PM

Some good stuff here I think.

I put a narrowframe hydro on my 147. It's not a simple bolt on by any means. Unless your mechanically inclined and have a good shop, I'd go with another option.

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my post. Not sure what I will be doing, but I know the white stuff will be on the ground soon enough.

I'm thinking of stealing your idea and doing the same thing on my 104. Have you had any bending issues with that bolt on the bottom of the actuator next to the generator? With a 1000 lbs on that bolt I wasn't sure how it has held up over the years.

My son built me a box scraper that weighs 175 lbs and it takes the both of us just to lift it off the ground using the existing lift lever!

I like the elift but the worst thing is fixing them when they break. I put new bearings, bushing, brushes in the motor on mine then the spiroid gear went. I haven't fixed it yet as I'm contemplating selling it and putting a winch on the tractor to raise and lower implements.

Curt,

Mind if I ask what brand your actuator is? What's the poundage your actuator is rated at? What type of implements are you lifting?

This is the one I'm contemplating using:

I use this one. Lifts a #1 tiller and 36" snowblower with ease

Wow, only 500 lbs. We used a spring scale for weighing deer and attached it to the top of the lift arm just below the push button and measured 245 lbs to get it off the ground... at the top of the handle! I can't imagine (or figure out) what the force would be at the bottom of the handle where the actuator would be connected.

jkier 11-25-2015 04:49 PM

Not sure I follow how you were measuring the force but I'm pretty sure the factory electric lift was rated much less than 500lbs and handled the job.

Heres a link to my setup

Thanks for your setup info.
Below is the scale I am referring to. My 104 was not setup originally for an electric lift like your 147, so I have a lift handle to deal with. So we put one end of the deer scale where your hand would go on the lift handle and pulled on the other end horizontally until the box scraper came off the ground to get an estimate of how much force is needed at the top of the lift handle. I can't imagine how much more it must be at the bottom of the lift handle where the actuator would connect up like Vart04 did with his setup: http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/showt...ferrerid=14173

ccr147 11-26-2015 02:53 PM

Mine is the oem lift. I don't remember what the specs are on the stock lift.
