Welcome Kevin :beerchug:

Nice 127 you have there. Any attachments for it ?

Sugarmaker 11-23-2013 06:37 PM

Kevin,
That 127 will make a nice first tractor. I have two, our son has one. and we have the big brother 147 too.
Welcome to OCC.
Regards,
Chris

Welcome Kevin, hope to see more pics of your cub doing it's thing....
Looks like it has a 3 point on it?

kevin s sc 11-23-2013 08:04 PM

It came with a model 1 tiller and I think a 44 in deck. I've got the tiller on it now so I guess it has 3 pt.? It runs good but I think it needs a hydro fluid and filter change. I don't see that in the tech section though.

Welcome to OCC and nice looking 127!

Make sure you get a filter designed for a cub cadet hydrostatic transmission. A regular oil filter does NOT have the correct valving to work correctly.

I highly suggest using Hy Tran as the factory did. Yes it's expensive but it encapsulates any water or moisture that makes it in the transmission to reduce the chance of corrosion. If you can't afford Hy Tran, make sure it is an equivalent.

Welcome to OCC Kevin

Nice 127! Yea, changing out the transmission fluid and filter sounds like a good idea. Have at least a two gallon drain pan handy when you open up the rear cover. I think the rear cover gasket is part number 350837 R3. And the filter would be part number 723-3014. Napa Auto would have a hydro filter and that part number would be 1084. I believe the capacity is a 7 quart capacity. Hy-Tran is correct, and a local Cub Cadet dealer will have the things as well.

Thanks for the pictures!

Congratulations on the 127. Its a fine tractor! :beer2:

A fine first tractor Kevin:beerchug:
And welcome to OCC!!!

Cub Cadet 123 11-24-2013 10:15 AM

:Welcome2: Glad you got your 127 up and running. Like most of us here, it will be your first of many, especially if you have a tiller connected to it.

Welcome!
From another nubee.
I have noticed that the further south one goes, the more scarce Cub Cadets seem to be. Especially the IH built units.
So we are kinda oddballs in this cult I think, LOL.

P.S.
My stable grew yesterday with another 127 also.

TheSaturnV 11-24-2013 12:36 PM

Awesome first Cub, well done.

Just another note on Hytran, it is typically cheaper when purchased in larger containers from an IH/CASE dealer. By-the-quart at a Cub Cadet shop gets pretty steep after piling all 7 quarts into your cart.

Keep us updated, I love to talk 127/147 Cubs.

I think that is fairly accurate across the south. Around here I run into a pretty much equal blend of Cubs, Deeres, Suburbans and CASE GTs, with the oddball Gilson once in awhile. You gotta be pretty quick to snag the good Cubs.

I paid $600. I'm missing the deck hanger, but really only want it for the tiller now. The tiller turns smooth is there a way to oil the inside without taking it all apart?

If it works why bother? I like that it still has the belt guard. Not many tillers do.

I changed the hydro fluid, about 2 inches of "gello" in the bottom. It drives good now! New starter/gen belt 3/8x32. I still need to set the governor and fix a few things. Gonna plant Snow peas in a few months!!

Alvy 11-29-2013 10:59 PM

I like the way you got it at eye level, good thinking with the engine hoist. The 127 was my first owned cub too, great start!

looks good:beerchug:

DITTO on the lift. :beerchug:

kevin s sc 11-30-2013 08:04 AM

It's much easier on my back and my happiness up off the floor. Lighter mowers I push up on ramps.
