this is the 1650 I was going to stretch to a dump bed. I desided to keep it stock. so here it is. its getting there, slowly ...
tonight I got the white bits DA'ed ,decals striped and will blast um later this week. I painted the frame 2 weeks ago. Im just using the TSC oil paint. not rattle cans.

Cub Cadet 123 11-17-2013 10:02 PM

Great start on another one Doug. Can't wait to see your work once again! Will this be a keeper or a flipper?

none are for sale, but everything has its price. Ive sold a few , and took a hit on all of them. cub still arnt hard to find,YET... but will be some day soon. and finding one that hasnt been thrashed or trashed , thats getting hard. finding that 70 was a big score last week. it runs good, and has all its correct parts still on it.

ACecil 11-17-2013 11:45 PM

Looking good! Keep the updates coming.

OldAndInTheWay 11-18-2013 07:00 AM

One of my first was a 1650 that was given to me. Runs great, no smoke but needs isolators and hydro fan. Also the tin ware around the muffler is missing. Has a great deck under it. I will eventually get to it. The trundle is bad also.

Yours looks like it getting the treatment it deserves.

We're old enough to spill our coffee, and to change our minds Doug! Nothing wrong with that! This 1650 should be slick if it turns out like the 125 you had done! The QL hydro's are trying to take hold of me, and I'm seeing yellow and white more and more, lol! :biggrin2:

x's 3 ! I must say, I like the system of order in which the front rims are assembled, bead broke, covered, and colored! A little too late for my front rims, but the rears I will paint with the tire installed, bead broke! The whole point being, chipping the finished product. I can only imagine a tuff time ahead scoffing and scratching the rims while installing bran new Carlisle Tru-Powers, for example.

Thanks! :buttrock:

4SPEED 11-25-2013 07:01 AM

the new trencher ag 's (front and rears) are 6 ply . the rims paint will get scratched if I put um on after.
I love the tru-power tire but the funds for this 1650 arnt there. the trencher tires I have are about half the cost of them.

I got some time to work on it last night. It got a new battery tray . Hammered out some dents. I have 4 screw holes to weld shut from TSC tail lights. Im looking for OEM light.
Also made the sleeve hitch adapter for it. And picked up a lift for it.

OldSkull 12-24-2013 01:26 PM

Nice job on the hitch! You look for OEM rear light? Me too! The only place I seen similar marker is in camping trailer replacement parts store but it was 5 years ago. I don't remember the Bargman product number.

bluesman 12-24-2013 02:14 PM

I too am looking for taillights for my 1650. I'm following your thread with a great deal of interest.......hope to learn something about the tractor

4SPEED 12-24-2013 03:47 PM

there is a set on epay now , but dont think I will drop that kind of coin for them. the Portland IN. garden tractor show is in a few months. Ill find a set there. I hope..

Cub Cadet 123 12-25-2013 11:43 AM

Like to see your front ags. All mine are narrow ones and I wondered if yours were the wide ones, but I can't tell if you have them covered up. Time for an unveiling! Your work on the adapter looks really good Doug!

Here ya go. There sold on ebay ,. The guy is here in ohio . If you order them from his www or call him they are a litle cheaper. Epay fees make um cost more. Also there 6 ply tires, front and rear and the same brand name.

Muzzy 12-26-2013 12:27 PM

Nice tires, They look good.

ACecil 12-26-2013 05:53 PM

Nice ags, Doug!

Cub Cadet 123 12-26-2013 08:38 PM

Thanks Doug. Those make the cub look like a 4x4! :biggrin2: It's been a while, but I have seen your cubs and I think that is your first set of those on the front, so let me know how they steer and handle--they might be my next set of front ags. Although, I'm partial to the narrow front ags!

Cub Cadet 123

4SPEED 12-27-2013 03:33 AM

I had ags on the 582 for years. They look better mounted this way. But turned around they grip the ground better.

Fender is stripped and sprayed in epoxy . The under side got cleaned and sprayed with auto rubber undercoating. Its ready to wet sand and look for small dings. Im not going nuts on this paint job, just dont want it to look like poo.. this is just going to be TSC tractor paint. the epoxy and primers good ppg 2 stage . Just want to see how well that paint holds up. Also dont feel like spending 200.00 on paint and clear. Give it a good base and the paint will look good. But for how long?

What do u guys think about farmall red and white ?

ACecil 12-28-2013 12:04 AM

Bet it would look great!

zippy1 12-28-2013 01:04 AM

Looking good Doug:beerchug:

MinnesotaCadet 12-28-2013 10:20 AM

Go with yellow and white. IH red and white don't go to well with quiet lines. Just my two cents. :beerchug:

Cub Cadet 123 12-28-2013 10:56 AM

If you go red and white, then I'd paint the frame red along with the axles and the nose, front doghouse, and fenders white with a custom red pinstripe....but that is my take on it.

Body work today... I tried to keep the factory stamping waves in the metal, but it feels like crap to me and I'll see it when painted. I can tell they didn't do much maintenence on the tooling. So im taking the waves out of the side covers and filling in the spot welds on the hood.

ACecil 12-29-2013 11:59 AM

Keep up the good work!
