Almost there!
finally have my 125 back on all fours! I'm losing the battle against mother nature, but any day that has been warm enough I've been slapping paint onto the 125, and I finally have enough pieces finished that it's back on all fours.
(disclaimer: the photo quality of my phone has drastically decreased since getting a waterproof case for it. some pics are good, others very fuzzy.) here's some shots of the squalor that is my shed, complete with heavy film of yellow haze. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3806f344.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...psadb8cea7.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps030faa07.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps6c1dd1b6.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps998ed928.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...psfd589589.jpg My original muffler was still in good shape, so I gave it a coat of hi-temp silver to keep it looking good and lasting long! http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps378d04de.jpg also, for durability's sake, painted my foot pads with bedliner. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps33148be0.jpg Also, got a new toy for it: a hydraulic lift! http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...pse60060d7.jpg It needs some new lines and a couple pieces are missing (spacers between bracket and the frame and the lockout clevis), but I'm looking forward to easy lifting of the plow or snowblower! thanks to member markmdz! hoping to have the machine back together and running by thanksgiving weekend! :beer2: |
I have never seen the wheel weights on the back side
|
Keep going! Its going to be a beautiful tractor. I love those 125's. I must do this to mine. I'm just a teen with no money, Hahaha :beerchug:
|
Looking good cadzag72
|
Nice work! Keep the pics and updates coming.

Looks great:beerchug:

I must applaud your effort and dedication! Your IH Cub Cadet 125 will certainly look great, and I like the way you mounted the IH wheel weights on the back side of the rear rims! That's the way I have mine installed too!
Keep up the good work!:American Flag 1: |
Looking good. I also have the "Yellow Haze" in my shop :biggrin2:
|
Yellow Haze? Isn't that a Jimi Hendrix song?

Yup! Great musicians need great machines to take care of their homes. :biggrin2:
As for my reverse weights, I like how useful weights are, but I prefer the look of the wheel as is. this way I get the best of both worlds- good looks and enough weight to move in slippery situations. now that the light at the end of the tunnel is visible, I'm very excited! it often felt like this project would never end, I would usually only be able to work in 10-15 minute increments (one of the reason the shed is such a mess!) before my assistance was needed elsewhere. but now the increments are longer, and parts are being put back rather than removed, so the excitement builds each time! I'll do my best to upload pics as I progress. |
Decals
I took advantage of some warm weather today to put my new decals from Maple Hunter on. I temporarily mocked up the complete tractor for some shots of how they look. I didn't line them up absolutely perfect, but they look pretty decent to me!

Decals look great Ian!:beer2:
|
Looking good! I don't think I've ever seen side marker lights on a Cub. Your idea or a POs addition?
|
they were my idea to fill in a PO's hole. we had some extra trailer lights at the shop I was working at, so I enlarged the hole a bit and popped them in. they're LEDs too, so they're nice and bright!

Love it so far! 125s are one of my favorite cubs.
|
That looks great :beerchug:
Do you want the OD of the spacers scuffed ( sanded on the lathe ) to help the paint stick? |
sure! that would be great. we're having a nice warm spell right now, I hope it hangs around for a while so i can do my last minute painting.
|
Your cub is looking sharp!

got some assembly work done today, it's getting close!
http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5906cf96.jpg http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps749ad21f.jpg had to undo/redo some things along the way, but all in all it's going together really easy. hopefully more/better pics later tonight or tomorrow! |
SWEET! :beerchug:

Looking good! :beerchug:

99.9%!!
thanks guys! all but done now. After putting the baby down for the night, went back out to the shed and put most of it together. all that's left the the exhaust bend, muffler and heat shield, hood ornament, and 2 new hydraulic lines for the lift. here's the pics from the end of the night!
Under the hood http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...psd02bde1b.jpg Hydraulic lift mounted thanks to Jeff in PA, who made the spacers for me! still have to figure out a float lockout, but that can wait. http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...psb5ffaabc.jpg up front http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps035533bb.jpg with lights! http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps73d9b89d.jpg out back, with my new rear lift and double-hole drawbar http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...psa854ff65.jpg and more lights! the ones in the fenders are linked to a flasher relay, so they blink just like the hazards on a car. I live on the busiest road in town with lots of tractor trailers, so I want to be seen! http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/...ps96708201.jpg I'll take more pictures when the job is finally complete! it's just about ready to go, but I'm not even going to try to start it until I replace those hydraulic lift lines. I'd rather only fill the pump once! |
Your 125 is sharp!
|
that is a very nice cub!! is hat the original steering wheel?? also, where did you get the flasher relay, and if i may ask, how much was it??
|
Now that's a really great job sir! Kudos
|
It looks great! Gives me a good idea what my 125 might look like at some point in the future. Thanks for all the pictures.
Regards, Chris |
thanks everyone!
mjsoldcub, the flasher relay was from some electric components I got through work, not sure what the price was but it was pretty cheap. the NAPA up the street from me has them for $3.49. http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...552_0396336232 hopefully I'll have the finishing touches in place by thanksgiving! |
looks really good:beerchug:
|
Good work!
I really like the flasher system, .....gives me an idea for the 71! Dig the IH wheel weights inside, too. Thanks for sharing! :buttrock:
|
That really looks great!

Looking through your thread I noticed something I've never seen before. I've never had one of the older Cubs so am wondering what is the belt and pulley system on the rear of the engine for? I'm looking at a 125 and a 129 on CL so I'm curious about them. TIA
Dave |
The belt and pulley is for the hydraulic lift.
